The house worked perfectly as a home base for venturing to Yellowstone and/or Cody each day we were there. It had all the amenities we could ask for. The hot tub was nice though very strong smell of chemicals — thankfully those smells did not waft into the bedroom. Host was great, thorough with communication. We would absolutely stay here again!

Overall a very cozy and clean place! If you are looking for nostalgia and an escape, this is your place… if you are looking for luxury and matching towels, it is not. We stayed in mid-July and without the AC it was VERY hot, it was actually cooler outside than it was inside, even with fans and windows opened. The house was well stocked, clean (I didnt care for carpet bathrooms, but they were clean). This place will take you back in time to grandmas, with mismatch towels, vintage dishes, vcr, etc. I think it could’ve used some toys or kid movies, but def not a deal breaker.

Great family house a short drive from Yellowstone

We enjoyed this property as a jumping off point for daily visits to Yellowstone Park and a day hanging around Cody. Great views, comfortable beds and the necessities to make the stay comfortable.

The views and the location to everything was good. The amount of space was nice too! The only negatives were that the house was outdated and the pipes made loud noises when the shower downstairs was used.

Great location

This was in a spectacular location. The property is nice. The house is a little dated, though, and maybe priced a bit too high. But, super clean with incredible views.

Our party of six adults loved this house. The views were awesome. Of the three houses we stayed in on our trip, this was our favorite. Everything was clean and the house was well stocked. We went into Yellowstone twice and loved the scenery between the Wapiti house (beautiful cliffs, rock formations, river and bear) and the park. Really nice laundry room downstairs. The twins downstairs were a little short for our 6' plus but would be perfect for kids or smaller adults. The queen was great and the kings upstairs were too. The enclosed hot tub upstairs off the master was inviting and ready to go but we didn't have time to try it out. The main living area upstairs (kitchen, living room and two fabulous dining areas with beautiful huge window surrounds) was perfect for all of us to enjoy meals, play cards, watch a movie or just enjoy the views. Thankful the owners shared this house!

Overall it was a good place to stay. The communication from the rental company was good. The house itself was not what we expected. There were two chairs, one table and one lounge, that were both broke and very unstable. The appliances were very old, they worked, but very old and loud. The pans for cooking were not very good as they were cheap and everything stuck to the bottom. The grill was very dirty. The hot water for a 5 bedroom home didn’t stay hot for long with 10 people so many cold showers. The water hammer on the pipes when we showered was very loud and annoying. It would wake people up. The internet was slow and we couldn’t use the fire stick to watch tv. The beds were very uncomfortable, either too hard to sagged into the middle. Overall it’s a nice location and having a garage for the bikes was a bonus. It seems like for a vacation rental for that price the home would be better equipped with updated amenities etc.

We should have read the reviews first. Are the views breathtaking like listed, yes. But, I'm not sure the views made up for the very outdated cabin. It reminded us of going to our Grandparents' house (albeit their dream house) where they bought new leather living room furniture, took down the pictures, and left everything else. The bathrooms were carpeted. There were old mismatched towels, old blankets in the closets, old shower heads that didn't work very well, the showers made an awful racket when initially turned on.... Either they purchased vintage dishwasher and stove or they have an excellent maintenance crew as when I Googled the kitchen appliances they could have been made in the '70's or 80's though they seemed to work ok. The railing around the top of the stairs are not safe/up-to-code, there were several surge protectors that were very old so were a fire-hazard concern. There were lots of box elder bugs in the house, especially downstairs. Our two youngest kids were scared to sleep downstairs because of the bugs, sounds, noise from the shower. A neighbor stopped my husband and 14 year old on a walk to notify us that there's a Grizzly bear that walks down the road/drive at least twice a day (he recommended bear spray). The chemicals in the hot tub were off because you would have thought it was a bubble-bath with the clouds of bubbles (our kids thought that was hilarious though). It was nice to have a fenced in, large yard to let the dogs out.

We’ve stayed in many vacation rentals and never had a negative experience at the property or with the hosts. There were 2 grills that didn’t work. The oven and stove were very dirty (pictures attached). The washer didn’t have any water pressure on cold. The showers made a roaring, vibrating sound. After checking out I contacted the host. I was told that we should have requested maintenance while we were there. No one in the group wanted the intrusion of cleaning and maintenance personnel in the house while we were there or while we were away because there were so many issues. The host showed no interest in reducing the fee we paid even though we were unable to do laundry, grill, or cook in the kitchen because of the unsanitary conditions of the stove. The house is old and needs many updates. We do not recommend. There are many amazing VRBO options in the area.

Great location. Easy access to cody, yellowstone,etc. Place was immaculate. Hot tub was great after a long cold day in Yellowstone. But the views...unbelievable. Every morning, it literally took my breath away!

July Stay

This is lovely property. Very clean, beautiful high ceilings with numerous ceiling fans. It was unseasonably hot when we stayed, no air conditioning. The ceiling fans helped as the extra floor fans did as well. Fenced yard was great for our dog Hot tub was also a big hit. Loved walking the neighborhood each morning, very scenic with friendly neighbors.

Good location--but did not meet expectations for price

Overall for what we paid (500+ per night) we were disappointed with this property. This does have a good location for getting into Yellowstone and great views from the house. The management staff was very responsive. However—for what we were paying we expected the house to be air-conditioned. This should have been disclosed in the listing. When we got to the house the temps in the main floor (great room, master bedroom, kitchen and dining area) was above 90 degrees. Opening the windows and using the fans took several hours to cool off the house. The management company did put in 2 window air conditioners the next day into the 2 upstairs bedrooms. But on the 2nd and 3rd days when we got back the main floor was still above 90 degrees and that was with the ceiling fans running and the window shades closed. It took several hours to cool off and the main floor was not usable except for the bedrooms that had the AC units. The problem with the house is it has 6+ large west facing windows and a cathedral ceiling. And there were issues with the plumbing. The 2 bathroom sinks when you used the cold water faucet—you got very hot water for several minutes. Would be a big issue for younger kids. Had dirty dishes in the kitchen and missing bread knifes from the silverware set. Would advise to look at other houses in the area.

We are sorry you had a rough time during your stay. Many properties in the area do not have AC. At night temperatures drop and opening windows allows the cool mountain air in to cool the property and then closing windows during the day keeps the temperature lower. The property is noted that is does not have Air Conditioning and on the VRBO amenities list Air Conditioning is not listed. The large windows that allow the gorgeous view do let in sunlight that can raise the temperature of the property, but not over an uncomfortable level. We appreciated being told about the plumbing issue. We were able to go in and resolve it. We apologize for the dirty dishes as we have a high standard for cleaning and that should not have been missed; and that the fully stocked kitchen was missing a bread knife which hindered on your stay. We hope all guests are comfortable at our properties and are able to sit back and relax during their stay in the Cody/Yellowstone area.

Amazing Mountain Views

My husband and I stayed here for a week with our 3 children and my parents. There was more than enough room for the 7 of us. The house was clean and comfortable and we felt right at home there. The views are incredible and it’s such a peaceful location. We met the owner and he was friendly and kind! He gave us some advice to check out Beartooth Pass and we are so glad he did, it was beyond spectacular! We had a wonderful vacation and this was the perfect location for us between Cody (we did whitewater rafting, horseback riding, and the rodeo) and Yellowstone (we spent 3 days exploring the park). I would highly recommend this rental house!
