Growing up, this whole area was nothing but dirt roads and orange groves, one of which my family owned. My grandparents retired here to this land from Wisconsin in1949 and ran the grove. My parents were not far behind them and in 1950 moved here with 2 of their 5 children to start their life in Florida from Wisconsin. My parents built this home and worked the grove with my grandparents whose home was built in 1947 which is where I live now on the other end of our property.
In 2013 we found out this home was for sale and jumped on it. Sentiment mostly but having this end of the property complete again was a big factor.
As rookie rehaber’s we thought it would take us just a few months to turn this property around, lesson #1! Eight years later after totally gutting the entire home and rebuilding the sun porch with block walls among many other things, we got here. The goal was to design our home with the amenities of a new home but with the feel and comfort of a 1950s family home.
The striated plywood ceilings in the two lakefront bedrooms are original to the home. We found a manufacturer in CA. who had started reproducing it and we decided to install it on the first floor. The pine tongue and groove on the walls felt right; we just aren’t drywall people. Our lighting was a lengthy search trying to maintain a vintage look but L.E.D. updates. We chose the flooring because we love our pet’s and this is a pet-friendly home. The design of the bathrooms and vanities was again trying to maintain a vintage feel but with a bit of flair, I love Motawi Tile so we chose a feature tile for each bathroom. We are custom fabricators so we built the vanities using the Wilsonart Retro laminates, it is also used on the back walls of the kitchen.

This home is on one end of the owner's 22 acres of property. There is one quiet neighbor 100 yards away. You will have your own private driveway and parking with an automatic gate opener/keypad. Your privacy and relaxing time here is our goal but we will be available by text or phone for any questions or needs.
