Casa Barone - ferme de caractère à Victoria on Gozo

Le 400 années vieille maison de ferme est située dans la vieille ville de Victoria. Tous les éléments antiques et en particulier la belle Rundbögen ont pu être obtenus.

Vous entrez dans cette élégante ferme sur une petite cour envahie par la végétation, où se trouve déjà un joli Sitz.- ou Coin repas vous invite à vous attarder. Il y a aussi la petite mais bien équipée cuisine incl. Micro-ondes et espace de vie rustique associé avec télévision.

Un escalier en pierre ancien et très élégant dans la cour mène au premier étage, où se trouve la première des deux chambres à coucher avec lit double, à mi-hauteur des escaliers. La salle de douche associée aux toilettes est quelques marches plus haute, au niveau de la deuxième chambre. Cela a 3 lits simples et sa propre salle de bain. Un autre lit simple peut être livré ici sur demande.

Un escalier en colimaçon raide mène à la grande terrasse de toit (Attention les enfants!). De là, vous pourrez profiter d'une vue unique sur les toits de Victoria, vers la Citadelle, et la cathédrale Saint-George - mais aussi à la mer! Sur la terrasse il ya des chaises longues et un parasol. Vous pouvez également faire un barbecue ici.

Appartement typique et bien placé

Le logement est idéalement situé pour visiter l’île et proche des commerces. Il est vraiment typique. Nous avons passé un excellent séjour.

un super séjour!

La maison est très bien située dans la vielle ville, près des commodités, dans une ruelle sans voiture. Nous avons aimé son intérieur avec des pièces bien séparées et surtout les repas sur la terrasse qui offre une vue très dégagée et qui est bien ventilée l'été.

Kurzurlaub auf Gozo

Der Aufenthalt war sehr schön, die Lage ist wie beschrieben, ruhig und schön. Trotzdem kann man zu Fuss in nur wenigen Minuten alles nötige erreichen. Die Familie um "Joe" ist sehr herzlich und hilfsbereit. Sie haben uns super beraten und betreut. Kurz es hat für uns wirklich alles gepasst, es waren sehr schöne Tage, sehr gerne wieder.

Wir haben uns in der Unterkunft in Victoria sehr wohl gefühlt. Es hat auch alles gut geklappt mit dem Transfer und dem Mietwagen. Vielen Dank an Joe und Stephen, die alles super gemanagt haben Wir kommen bestimmt wieder.

Disappointing Stay

Property is in a good location, tucked away from all the hubbub, yet in close proximity to St. George’s Square and the Cittadella. The property is spacious and has tons of potential. The owner we dealt with at check-in was gracious, and professional. The property is described as an old farmhouse, and that’s probably an accurate assessment. Everything there can be classified as rustic. We were so looking forward to a charming vacation getaway, something other than a run of the mill flat you can rent. Sadly, we could not make it through the first night as it was too cold in this property. The two bedrooms are equipped with a coin operated AC/heater unit; God forbid you run out of euro coins. The rest of the property is not heated. The issue with our bedroom was the heater unit did not provide sufficient heat for the room. A review dated May 20, 2019 makes reference to “the temperatures were sometimes cooler and house would get a bit humid and cold.” This was based on someone who stayed at the property in the month of May. We were scheduled to stay from March 1st-6th it was cold. This property should not be rented in winter months, without a clear and specific warning or a full refund policy. When daily weather lows are in the high single digits to low double digits, it is not reasonable to expect guests to stay in this property. One review makes reference to this property not meeting North American standards, hard to disagree, but in and of itself not a deal breaker if you’re expecting a rustic look. However, renting a house and only being able to use a bedroom, not fair. When the heating system in that bedroom is inadequate to provide sufficient heat, not fair. The property manager provided us with a “goodwill” partial refund, not fair at all.

I am very sorry that this traditional Farmhouse did not meet the expectations of the guests. However, there are unfortunately a few points to clarify in this case: The guests decided to leave the house directly on the day of arrival without informing the very hospitable owner beforehand and looking for a solution. The owner would have been happy to provide a gas stove for the living area free of charge. Alternatively, it would have been possible to offer the guests a large, modern flat close to the centre of Victoria for the duration of their stay. Units for air conditioning and heating are installed in both bedrooms. The heating capacity in the cooler season is absolutely sufficient. These units are operated by a coin-operated system - a common solution for holiday accommodation in Malta. However, the house is not rented out from mid-November to the end of February. I would like to refer to the otherwise positive reviews of this farmhouse by other guests!

Comfortable and convenient

This house is in the midst of the narrow winding streets of old Victoria and a very convenient place for the sights and all the bars and restaurants which are within walking distance. There are views of the Citadel from the roof terrace (furnished with table and chairs and sunloungers). Joe and his sister are very accommodating and we had a very pleasant week.

Familientreffen auf Gozo

Wir kamen alle aus unterschiedlichen Teilen der Erde 🇩🇪 🇫🇷 🇺🇸 auf die Insel Gozo um gemeinsam Familienurlaub zu machen. Wir sind abenteuerlustig und suchen im Urlaub nach einzigartigen und ursprünglichen Unterkünften. Uns hat es in dem 400 Jahre alten Farmhaus, inmitten der Altstadt von Victoria, sehr gut gefallen. Die Unterkunft hat seinen Charm, war sehr sauber und gut ausgestattet. Jederzeit würden wir wieder kommen, allerdings dann eher im Frühjahr, wenn es nicht ganz so heiß ist. Obwohl die Mauern sehr dick sind war es tagsüber, wie auch nachts, sehr heiß im Haus. Wir waren sehr dankbar über die Ventilatoren die im Haus zur Verfügung standen. Auch die zur Verfügung gestellten Sonnenschirme kamen am Strand zum Einsatz.

Wir freuen uns sehr, dass Ihr gemeinsamer Familienurlaub in diesem urigen Farmhaus ein voller Erfolg war! Im August kann es in der Tat, trotz der alten, dicken Wände im Haus schon mal recht warm werden. Dafür stellt der Eigentümer dann jedoch gerne verschiedene Ventilatoren zur Verfügung. Extra Stromkosten werden nicht berechnet.

Great farmhouse but not apartment

The farmhouse was great, location, atmosphere, everything . very happy we insisted on this versus the substitute apartment which was uninspiring and in a dire location.

Das Haus ist perfekt gelegen, nahe am Stadtzentrum, Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und Restaurants praktisch um die Ecke. Wir fühlten uns in eine andere Zeit versetzt, fühlten uns wie Einheimische - das Haus ist authentisch und für das Alter gut erhalten. Sehr wichtig ist zu erwähnen, dass zwischen dem Eingangs und Wohnbereich doch einige (23) Stufen zu steigen sind - das summiert sich... Wenn man das Läuten von Kirchenglocken liebt, ist man im Paradies, andere könnten doch manchmal im Schlaf gestört werden. Für uns war das kein Problem. Zu guter letzt, die Gastgeber sind zuvorkommend und hilfsbereit, zu jeder Zeit! Wir können das Haus wärmstens empfehlen!

Gozo når det er varmest

Dejligt gammel bygning, masser af plads. Vi var dog på ferie i en meget varm periode, så det havde været mere end dejligt med aircondition. Vores værelser var ekstrem varme om aftenen, så den første uge var det næsten umuligt at sove grundet varmen. Selve huset lugtede flere steder af fugt, men det blev dog mindre generende efter nogle dage, vi blev vel vant til lugten. Nogle bedre faciliteter på tagterrassen vil være en god investering. Objekt entspricht der Beschreibung

Die FeWo liegt in der Altstadt. Ruhige Wohnlage, kein Pkw- oder Moped-Lärm, angenehme Nachbarschaft. Ein Leben wie die Malteser: leicht rustikal, am Puls der Zeit - das muss einem klar sein. Es ist sehr angenehm, super Ambiente. Der Kontakt zum Eigentümer ist unkompliziert und sehr gastfreundlich. Gleich um die Ecke gibt es sehr leckeres Essen bei dem Sizilianer Valentino und seiner Frau im Restaurant mit dem Namen "Il Panzier". Zur Insel selbst: Wer sich für die altertümliche Kultur begeistert, der ist dort auf jeden Fall richtig aufgehoben. Im Vergleich zu Malta würde ich behaupten, Gozo sei ursprünglicher und familiärer, ein ganz besonderes Flair!

A step back in time

We enjoyed our stay at Casa Barone, the house has full of character, is centrally located and guests can really experience the Gozitain lifestyle. Café at the square terrasse, shopping for bread and vegetables in local markets and walking everywhere. The neighborhood is delightful, the beds are comfortable and the owners respond quickly to all our needs. Living three weeks in the house was an adventure.... when it rains, it rains in the middle of the house.... when you leave your bedroom you are litterally outside...which has its charm but for some that could be challenging.... walking up the stairs in the rain to go to bathroom. The temperatures were sometimes cooler and the house would get a bit humid and cold. We also had a few issues with water, water pressure and sewers but the owners were very rapid in solving the problems. Amenties are old and not up to par with canadian standards : old washrooms, small gas oven , old kitchenware.... but it was clean and Rose came to clean and change linens everyweek. Joe was also very helpful in arranging transport, etc... they were very easy to reach. All in all we trully enjoyed our adventure at Casa Barone and for the price, location , tranquility , comfort of the beds and cleanliness we would recommend it. Wonderful house and location

This house is absolutely great! It is located in the center of Victoria and at the same time it is extremely quite. We had a memorable vacation here and we would recommend it to everybody. The house was exactly as described, very clean and nothing was missing. Also Joe and his sisters have been very friendly hosts. We will come back as soon as possible! Thank you

lovely relaxing holiday

Smooth taxi transfer from airport to ferry to house and the owner, Joseph Sultana and his sister Gilbert and their uncle Michael couldn't be more helpful. The property is quirkily lovely and has all that is needed for a holiday. Quietly situated in the old part of Victoria (Rabat), yet only a minute or two away from St George's Piazza and Independenza Square. A great base from which to explore Gozo and meet the friendly, welcoming residents. We had a lovely time, thank you.

Sehr schönes, individuelles Ferienhaus

Wer auf der Suche nach einem gemütliche eingerichteten Ferinhaus mitten im verkehrsberuhigten Teil von Victoria ist, ist hier genau richtig. Alle Dinge, die man braucht, sind vorhanden. Man kann zwischen schattigen und sonnigen Sitzplätzen wählen und so die Zeit hier gut genießen. Es sind nur 5 min zu Fuß zum zentralen Busbahnhof, was einfach ideal ist. Ein Auto braucht man auf Gozo nicht. Super war, dass ausreichend Handtücher zur Verfügung gestellt wurden. Die Bäder haben schon bessere Zeiten gesehen - es war aber alle prima sauber und das ist die Hauptsache. Sehr nette und hilfsbereite Vermieter. Gerne jederzeit wieder !

Utterly gorgeous!

Perfect place for a solo getaway. Just lovely. Peaceful and a beautiful house in walking distance of some of the best places in Gozo. My only criticism is that I had to go and buy the basics, salt, pepper, tea, coffee and loo roll. Normally there's something just to have a cuppa on arrival. A small gripe but easy to fix. It is a tremendous place though and I hope to return. Local shop keeper was wonderful and super helpful. The owner was lovely and got up at stupid o clock to take me to the ferry. A brilliant place.

Lovely character building.

A very clean and comfortable property ideally situated for access to good restaurants and local sightseeing. Away from the tourist centres makes it quieter and gives a local feel.
