2 BR and 1 Bath House with guesthouse - sleeps 8. Master bedroom has AC

I bought this property 30 years ago after completing two years in the Peace Corps. We built the house in 2006 and love the secluded setting with incredible mountain views. You can watch Toucans and monkeys in the trees while you are drinking coffee on the massive deck. The house is in the hills above the town of Dominical, so it is close to both beaches and mountains and is secluded but also close to restaurants and stores.

There is a main house and a guesthouse so it is great for large groups. The house has an open layout and includes lots of wood paneling, ceramic tile floors, and extra high ceilings to maximize views and breezes.

The beach is 10 minutes away, and both Manuel Antonio National park in Quepos and Whale Tail National park in Uvita are 30 minutes away. We love it and you will love it too.

Ok, I will start by mentioning that this house is really beautiful, the view in the back of it is breathtaking, if somebody loves animals this is the place to be plus is very close to the beach only 20 minutes away is Playa Dominical great place to enjoy the water It’s really beautiful We are tented to come back

Two month stint in Dominical

The place really made our vacation! It was spacious and gave us the chance to host friends and family. It was well laid out and had all the necessary amenities for us to cook our meals there and just hang out. The location was phenomenal- smack dab in the rain forest but only 15 minutes from the beach and the chill surfing village of Dominical. We saw and heard amazing wildlife throughout our stay. A short walk up the hill and we saw amazing sunsets over the ocean. The host Erik was responsive and very helpful. Dominical is a place you can stay for a while because there’s a lot to do that’s nearby, and good restaurants. It’s very friendly and safe.

BARU House

Very nice home in a nice private setting in the countryside. Could see toucans from the deck most days. Well equipped with everything we needed. The one thing it doesn’t have is A/C, so it get quite hot and humid by late afternoon. It wouldn’t have been too bad, but 3 of the 5 ceiling fans didn’t work, so it took most of the night to cool down. The other negative was the poor communication from the manager. Some things took up to a day or two to get a response, some things I never got a response on and had to keep emailing the owner to get answers, and some things I did get a response. Checkin went well though and luckily we had good communication for that.

Relaxing in the cooler hills above Dominical

We enjoyed our three week stay in the Baru Valley Vistas house, especially the early mornings on the deck with all the bird chatter. The high-vaulted, wood paneled ceiling and overhead fans keep the house cool through the day. The outdoor shower head and faucet were great for keeping sand out of the house. The garage apartment was perfect for the week our son and daughter visited. Although the garage kitchenette was not used, we did make great use of the griddle in the main kitchen for almost every meal. The 7 or 8 minute ride up the hill from Route 234 is rough. Four-wheel-drive vehicles are recommended but good ground clearance is important. The roads up here, although steep, offer beautiful morning walks on Lagunas Rd, Ridge Rd and Peak Rd. We explored many beaches and waterfalls and found that most beaches have significant waves. Some days we paid the $6.75 pp to swim in calmer waters at the national parks- Bahia Balina, Chaman and Manuel Antonio. The Nauyaca and Chanteles Waterfalls are worth the time to get there, the countryside is beautiful and the water refreshingly cold.

Loved this home!!

I had the pleasure of renting this beautiful home for 2 months! The location is great! Not a far drive to the beaches and close to head inland to the mountains. The sunrise view off the back deck woke me every morning feeling excited to start my day there! The house kitchen was wonderful to cook in. I also felt very at home in this property. I would definitely stay here again. The owner was wonderful to deal with as well! It truly was pura vida!!

I purchased the property as a reforestation project, and began planting trees in 1990. I built the house in 2005 and added the guest house in 2019. It is a beautiful spot and a beautiful house - not extravagant - but nice and secluded and accessible!

This house is secluded but not remote. You are away from the traffic and the noise - and up in the cooler temperatures - but within 10 minutes from the beach and restaurants. It's a perfect location for enjoying both the beach and the mountains - with lots activities nearby if you want them, including sea kayaking, deep sea fishing, bird watching, hiking, surfing and more.

An amazing deck with a cool breeze and a fabulous view! The house is perfect for a family or a small group - and then there is the guest house for visitors just a few steps away.
