In response to your review, yes we have cameras outside the property, which is disclosed on the listing, to protect our investment just as any hotel or commercial property does. We watch when guests arrive to make sure that who rented the property is the person that arrives, that the number of guests that is disclosed at booking is actually the number of guests that arrives, and that unauthorized animals or overweight animals are not staying. You are upset because we noticed you brought two dogs and only disclosed one which the one was obviously over the 50lb house policy. Also, what we did not mention at check-in were you booked for two adults but brought five. We do not watch the cameras during the stay other than on arrival, footage is reviewed if we are made aware of an incidence, such as the alleged fall on the outside step. On review of the footage, your husband stumbled on the bottom step while being pulled by the overweight dog. He never fell. The bottom step is 7 inches from the top of the step to the deck. NC building code states a step is 8 inches with a max of 8 1/4 inches in height. Once we were aware of the situation we had the step repaired within an hour. We were unaware of any other incidences during your stay.

The renter was contacted via VRBO on May 15th at 8:58 am asking to contact us at the earliest convenience; we spoke shortly after and were made aware of the dock situation. The renters the weekend before, when the floats came out, had a 34ft Onslow Bay center console fishing boat docked beside the floating dock with no issue; even after the floats came out. Sea Dog construction actually told us the dock would be fixed Tuesday not Monday and this was relayed to the renter. The renter stated it was OK because they would not be checking in till late Sunday due to vehicle issues. When the dock was not repaired on Tuesday Sea Dog construction was contacted and due to issues with them, it would be Wednesday when it would be repaired. The dock was repaired Wednesday before 3 pm, not 5 pm as stated by the renter. Sea Dog construction contacted the homeowner when the repair was completed. Sea Dog construction actually did not say "there is no way in hell they would park beside the dock". What they actually said was it was fine to dock at. This did not impede the renter from launching their boat. We do not in any situation claim responsibility for boats at the dock. We are not responsible for tides; sometimes they are higher or lower than average. We have a 24ft Sea Pro deep V that we dock beside the dock with no issues. During your stay the storm door was busted, sheets were ripped, charcoal grill ashed were not cleaned out, cigarette butts were left on-premises, the house was extremely nasty with spilled something down the side and front of the couch, food was under the couch, wood floors required extra scrubbing to get up spills, the stove was left with burnt-on food and floors had copious amounts of animal hair requiring multiple cleanings to get it all up and the outdoor chairs were left scattered about with the air chair still hanging which is not where it was on arrival. Also, you were late checking out, which we have on camera. The renter threatened us with a bad review if we did not refund the money. The renter sent very nasty messages via VRBO and our personal phones. The renter called cursing and threatening the owner. Ironically you are the only renter that has ever had an issue with us or our home. This issue was out of our control which escalated when you called demanding a refund. The call resulted in your name-calling and threatening. I would not rent to you again and would not want anyone to have to endure your berating.
