Cute Cottage in Downtown Austin

Very cute, 2 bedroom (one is a kid's room) cozy cottage with lots of natural lighting in downtown Austin. Can see the city buildings from the living room window. The house has wood floors throughout, an equipped kitchen, a cozy master bedroom, and dining area. There is a tenant that lives in a studio in the back, and there is a door in the dining area that goes into his studio but this door is locked and kept closed AT ALL TIMES. No loud parties/guests for this reason. Have a prime Austin experience and walk to Whole Foods corporate, numerous bakeries, restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping. Be in the heart and energy of the city, but also enjoy the peace of a cozy home in a sweet neighborhood.

Awful Experience.

We arrived at the house and unfortunately had to get a hotel. The house wasn't exactly in suitable condition... the a/c was set at 77 but was unable to achieve that, the toilet and toilet seat were soiled, crumbs on the kitchen floor, dirty dish in the sink, no trashcans, stained pillowcase in the kids room.. It was odd to come in and see jewelry around, toothbrushes out, and like the TV had been taken off the wall ? We turned off the lights & locked up we did not stay. We reached out to the owner but have not heard back. We really need a refund. This was our first experience with VRBO. We are honestly not impressed with anything about this.

Hi Michele. I have never had problems with the AC. I still don’t, in fact. Not sure what you meant by soiled toilet but it was clean and flushed when I checked on it. Apologies if there were crumbs left behind. I assure you it is swept and mopped between guests by the cleaners. It’s a black tile with white specs all over it that I myself often mistake for crumbs or food but it’s not. Keep in mind the house is old and built in the 40s and there’s a way that no amount of cleaning will give it that pristine feel you might be looking for. Most people know this coming into it. You’re not getting a hotel vibe. It’s a (mostly) lived in cottage experience (hence a toothbrush in the holder in the bathroom). All pillow cases and sheets/blankets are washed. Maybe there is a small stain on a pillow case but it was clean. I will invest in new ones. The TV mount was there when I moved in. I have never owned a TV so I didn’t put one there. It is stated on my listing that there is no TV. The trash can is under the sink (labeled TRASH). It is unfortunate that it wasn’t up to your liking but since I have had numerous people stay there without these problems, it leaves me to believe that it’s more about personal preference than an inherent problem with the home. It’s true that it’s not modern hotel experience. People who come here are coming for the antique cottage feel. And again, everything is cleaned, wiped down, and washed beforehand.

Quiet stay in downtown Austin

Cute little cottage! We comfortably slept 5 adults, though we did bring an air mattress. Very clean, very cute. Will stay again! One of the beds listed is a pallet in the living room, but like I said: there is plenty of room for an air mattress! Great communication with the owner all weekend.

Great Location to DT ATX!

We were looking to stay in a home as close to Downtown Austin as possible. We weren’t interested in apartments so this was perfect. So close to everything and walking distance to Whole Foods. We come to Austin 4x-5x a year so this may be our new home away from home!!!

Responsive host and good location

The host was very responsive and allowed an early bag drop so we could explore the city. The location is within easy walking to a number of restaurants that we enjoyed (Lin’s, Z’Tejas, Swedish Hill, Amy’s) and a short ride (or long walk) to Congress Ave, Rainey St, etc… The host should update the listing to specify the bed is really a futon and the smaller bed is a mattress on the floor. An addition of hand towels and wash cloths would be good as well.

Cute, quaint, comfortable and walking distance to shop.

We came to Austin to take a sailing class on lake Travis for the weekend. This cute home ended up being the perfect place! Shopping and restaurants were of walking distance, and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves . Thanks again!

Location was perfect

Was an excellent place to stay for the weekend with the family! Downtown wasn’t far and walking distance to the nicest restaurants. Place was very quiet and relaxing. Cozy and warm. Would definitely stay here again.
