Experience the perfect summer vacation with family or friends at this spacious oceanfront home in the heart of Maine’s prime coastal vacation region. Penobscot Retreat is situated on two oceanfront acres with an outside deck, expansive lawn, and a private beach on Penobscot Bay. The Retreat's unique features include an art studio, writer's nook (desk, wifi, & printer), billiards room, plus a new central air-conditioning system for your comfort.
The Retreat’s central location at the top of Penobscot Bay offers convenient day trips to communities between Boothbay Harbor and Acadia National Park. Visit Belfast for Dinner, Camden for lunch, enjoy Rockland’s Farnsworth Art Museum, tour historic Castine, or watch lobstermen offload today’s catch in Stonington. A day trip to Bar Harbor for lunch and a hike along the oceanfront cliffs in Acadia National Park is an unforgettable experience.
Belfast (10 minutes west) was selected by the readers of DownEast Magazine as the "Best Place to Live" in Maine! Belfast offers a variety of convenient restaurants and an historic downtown filled with local shops and art galleries. Explore the Belfast Harbor Walk's path along the picturesque waterfront park, continue through Front Street’s working shipyard, enjoy the view from the footbridge across the harbor, or take the 2 mile rail trail along the river. Plan a lobster boat tour of Belfast Harbor or rent a bike to enjoy the rail trail.
Searsport (5 minutes east) is known for historic sea captain homes, antiques, and the Penobscot Marine Museum. Tozier's grocery and a variety of community restaurants are all just a few minutes away.
Nearby State Parks offering outdoor activities include: Moose Point (coastal trail), Fort Point Lighthouse, Sandy Beach Park, Historic Fort Knox, and amazing views from the Penobscot Bridge Observatory. Sears Island is popular for its wooded trails, beach combing, and as one of Maine's premier birding sites. Penobscot Retreat’s quiet neighborhood and private beach also provide safe locations for your daily walk.
Enjoy spectacular views from the art studio's floor-to-ceiling windows while working on a vacation art project or relaxing with summer reading. The writer’s nook provides space with a desk and printer to link your laptop to the home’s WiFi system or unwind with a murder mystery. Savor an ocean breeze on the back deck, relax on the Landing, or explore the Retreat’s private beach on Penobscot Bay.
The living room’s Samsung Smart TV with matching soundbar features Spectrum Cable with Apps to stream your favorite programs from your personal entertainment accounts.
Feeling competitive? Challenge someone to a game of pool in the billiards room or play a game of cards, chess, or backgammon. badminton, croquet, and corn hole equipment is also provided for you to set up in the home's expansive yard.
Lobster anyone? Young's Lobster Pound is only 8 minutes away and dozens of convenient restaurants are located in Searsport, Belfast, and along the coastal highway to Camden.
Panoramic views of working lobster boats, traditional schooners, private sailing yachts, and ocean going ships from the Retreat's floor-to-ceiling windows may tempt you to use the outdoor grill, stay at home, and watch the seals, shorebirds, ospreys, the neighborhood bald eagle and fox hunt for dinner. Select your favorite foods and beverages from Hannaford’s Supermarket - only 12 minutes away in Belfast.
