Wedding at Blake Hall

Our nephew's wedding was at Blake Hall, Ongar on the 13th May. This property is well placed for our reason for visiting the area but five adults and one child enjoyed this well appointed and spacious house. Our grandson enjoyed a nearby petting farm and an excellent park and play area. Bishops Stortford has a myriad restaurants with any number of cuisines. Thoroughly recommend.

Some issues

The property was on a very busy road. On arrival we attempted to enter the property using the instructions we were given via the keypad after numerous attempts we had to phone the lovely housekeeper who informed us the key was under the mat by the front door! Access to the property was an issue and difficult there was four of us and we were all trying. It was only when we had to contact the housekeeper on another issue that we were handed a’card’. There was no light in the en suite bathroom it was broken the person in this room said it was an issue. The bathroom and the other en-suite had no hot water and again the showers were very complicated (they only worked properly when the hot water problem was sorted out) we phoned the owner she phoned the housekeeper who came round and went straight to the airing cupboard and pressed a switch which heated the water, if only we knew!! A Welcome Pack addressing these issues would have been helpful before and during our stay. Also, all the manuals for the various kitchen equipment could be kept in there, along with routes on how to walk to the town by going through the park and not along the road. We found this out from a friend who knows BS. These are hopefully helpful suggestions. The house was certainly adequate for all of us and we had a good stay.

We chose this propery to make it our family home because it was just so bright and spacious. We love how the living room opens onto the garden, which is especially pleasant in the warmer months.

There is a separate office kitted out with a desk, chair and shelves. The property also has super fast Virgin broadband.

A separate large utility room has all you need in terms of laundry services. The large kitchen allows you to cook and enjoy hosting an epic dinner party. There is also a separate dining room (opening onto the kitchen) for more formal dining.

Two of the bedrooms have an ensuite, and the to remaining bedrooms share the large family bathroom, with a whirlpool bath and separate shower.

Outside, the gardens are amazing with a nice seating area which allows you to enjoy the outside space.

This property offers an abundance of space for those who need to host an event, to work from home, or are in need of a relaxing holiday. The location in Bishop's Stortford is ideal for those needing to visit the fantastic schools (Hockerill Anglo-European College is a short walk away, with an entrance on the same road). Bishops Stortford College is also not too far away, less than 10 minutes by car.
