Welcome to the Hensley House of San Jose. It gained historical landmark distinction in 1990. It was the former home of San Jose Mayor Samuel Hensley who was responsible for developing San Jose from a small settlement to a large city in the Mid 1860âs. This house was originally built in 1894 and still retains itâs old world charms, but updated with modern amenities for your comfort. All seven units enjoy their own bathrooms, and large common living area, dinning area, and outdoor garden.

Property managers were very responsive to any requests/issues. Well taken care of given the age, nice location. Only issue is "AC" is just a fan. Good sized rooms, comfortable beds.
Positives: secure check-in, good WiFi, great TV options & comfortable bed
Negatives: NO hot water, NO water pressure, getting in & out of shower was hazardously slippery. The carpets & multiple area rugs were dirty & the room was over furnished w/dusty furniture. Generally speaking, there was a lack of cleanliness.
Check-in was simple and easy! I used this room to get ready for my wedding day and it was perfect! The only thing was that the bathroom sink had no hot water, but that wasn't such a big issue.
BEWARE: Double Bookings, Cancellations & Poor Communication
WARNING: Cancelled Room Day of Trip
Mandy double booked our room so we had no choice but to rely on her & her assistant Andy to accommodate us with another room. They offered to put us in another place (all terrible options) & only one ticket to the Winchester Mystery House,. I asked if we could have two tickets, a partial refund and discount for later but Mandy told me to talk to Andy about this and Andy was very rude and stopped talking to me all together. We were left with no room & no choice but to stay at the disgusting place they found for us on top of a liquor store in a bad area of San Jose. When trying to contact Mandy about this ordeal she gave no response. It saddens me that such a historic home of San Jose is owned by people who don't really care about the history of San Jose or the guests that come through.
Beware before renting, you'll find yourself with no place to stay.
