The Sanctuary at Eby Farms

The Sanctuary is located in a wonderful blend of farm and nature for a peaceful getaway. It was designed and handcrafted by your hosts to reflect the peacefulness of a simple farm life while giving you the amenities of modern life. Inside: Designed in a studio style it features a soaking tub with hand shower, a full kitchen, a custom queen bed with an Organic mattress and a comfy couch to watch tv as you enjoy the comfort of in-floor heating or A/c.

Outside: Relax in the screened porch surrounded by farm and nature. Lounge in the chairs or the oversized swing. Enjoy a meal on the porch or sit around the fire pit to watch the flames dance. Shower under the stars in the outdoor shower.

We are located approximately 45 minutes from South Bend, Kalamazoo and St Joseph and about 2 hours from Chicago. This is a beautiful rural location for a relaxing getaway; an easy drive from the chaos of regular life.

We live on the farm in the main house. The Sanctuary is separate from our home and isn’t a shared space. It has a private yard and porch not visible from the our house. You might see us out on the farm from time to time. We look forward to hosting you in The Sanctuary.

The place was beautifully done. The shower is outdoors (on the porch) but that didn't bother us at all. Overall great place to stay especially if you're attending a wedding at the venue just around the corner.

Peaceful, comfortable and quiet place to stay. The living area was setup thoughtfully with a rustic woodsy look and all the comforts of home. We enjoyed the screened in porch and they had eggs fresh from the hens in the fridge for us to use for breakfast. Hosts had many thoughtful touches in property and gave us all the privacy we could ask for. We will definitely stay again if we are going through.

Relaxing and Comfortable

They were very accommodating as we got there much later than expected. Everything was clean and relaxing home away from home with everything you need. Wish we had more time to enjoy the screeened in porch and fire pit! The outdoor shower and soaking tub were great at the end of a long day.

"Sanctuary" is right

I surprised my partner with this stay for her birthday. We could not have asked for a better location nor a better property to ring in the celebration. The space was perfect, communication was awesome and the quiet moments were worth every penny.Our favorite parts were the sweet farm pup, Atlas, the outdoor shower and the large porch swing but the whole property was perfect. We hope to be back soon!

Eby Farms and the Sanctuary was a perfect stay. Its a cute area built on a secluded farm, with plenty of privacy. This getaway is perfect for a couple looking for a little peace and quiet away from things.

Incredible!

We stayed here the night of our wedding since our venue was a few hours from home. The property was lovely. There were drinks and various goodies left for us to enjoy, epsom salt for the bath tub, and we were greeted by a farm dog and kitten in the morning waiting for us outside. The owners even left us a note congratualting us on our wedding. I couldnt recommend this location more!

Quiet with great company

I really enjoyed staying on this farm with my husband. We were greeted by the farm dog , Atlas , and he often hung out with us outside. We saw their cows and heard their chickens - all great assets to this stay (if you like the sound and love animals of all kinds). The area is very quiet and out of the way of public view. The outdoor shower was sooo relaxing to use! The farm house was cool to learn about and get to know more about them! They provided us some treats and fresh eggs - it was wonderful . We plan to choose this location again when we come up from Massachusetts to see our Michigan friends

This was one of the best "Not A Hotel" stays my husband and I have experienced in quite some time! The property is secluded, quiet, (with the exeption of cows mooing and hens clucking!,) and the lodging is so rustic, homey, and fully stocked with all that you will need to make your stay, an experience you won't soon forget! Eby Farms LLC is just that... a working farm! It is located in Cassopolis, MI., about 30 minutes North of South Bend,IN., Home of Notre Dame Irish! We booked the outpost cabin for a 2 night stay, as we were making our yearly pilgrimage to Notre Dame for a deep rivalry football game with USC! It was a perfect choice, as we were able to meet up with friends who live in the area, and dine locally, with a number of excellent choices not far from the farm. The property is extremely quiet at night and very, very dark, so you can see so many stars which are brilliant and beautiful! You can't see any in Chicago, so that was a delight in itself! The only regret, is that we were unable to meet our hosts, Jen and Matthew.. but we did get to meet Eby's canine ambassador, "Atlas" who exhibited nothing short of "Puppy Love", and greeted us each time we arrived and departed! Such a Gentleman! So, all in all... we would Certainly return to Eby Farms and have already made recommendations to our friends and family. If you need a quite respite and some much needed "Me Time".. this is the place for you!

Peaceful retreat

My husband and I loved staying here for a couple of nights to unplug and be in nature. We love to read and have fires, so the large screened in porch with the cute string lights was perfect for us along with the fire pit. Plus we had unexpected farm kitten guests :) We're simple nature people trapped in suburb apt life, so we loved it! The only thing we would change if we could was the soft bed. Lots of tossing and turning for me, with fibromyalgia. And my husband had to sleep on the firm couch because of his back, which he did get good sleep on, but it's a bit short. Thankfully so is he lol. The other thing that's good to know--the fire pit is really awesome, but the wood bench out there is about 8" off the ground. Hard to sit on unless you're a child or pain-free. We grabbed a chair from inside the porch, but you have to be physically able; I couldn't do it myself.

A Sanctuary, Indeed!

The Sanctuary at Eby Farms is a wonderful place to stay! Quiet, a little off the beaten path, but close enough to town makes it an excellent option for a stay in the Dowagiac/Cassopolis area of Southwest Michigan. The screened-in porch is perfect for enjoying the wooded landscape without the mosquitos. Well-supplied kitchen had everything we needed for our long weekend. The farm-fresh eggs from their own laying hens was a really nice touch! The decor is warm and chic. We absolutely love the rustic touches against the concrete counters, stainless steel appliances, and modern bathtub. The private outdoor shower was super cool! It's a perfect couples getaway location! We'll definitely be staying again!

Cute rustic cabin perfect for overnight from Lawless Dark Sky Event

We stayed in this after a Dark Sky Event at Lawless. It’s on a farm like an outbuilding, but feels like it has it’s own space. They did a great job using the small space well and using decor to make the space feel like it was divided into room areas. Very clean and organized. Good for an overnight for a couple. Nice inviting screened in patio area on the back extends the useable space nicely. And the sweetest dog welcomed us to the property. Location is remote but that was the point. Close to get to after late night stargazing.

Perfect little getaway!

We came up here for only one night to attend a nearby wedding but we will definitely come back again as our destination. The sanctuary is absolutely perfect if you're trying to get away and relax. Excellent mix of modern amenities mixed with rustic decor and feel. My favorite things were a beautiful free standing tub to soak in and relax indoors and an outdoor shower that really makes you feel free! Thank you to the host, we had a lovely stay!

A quick getaway

A hidden gem! A very cozy, clean, spacious and well kept property. Location was perfect. Outside was quiet, peaceful and with plenty seating areas inside by patio and outdoors. If you want a peaceful getaway this is the place! We will definitely be back!

This property is a little gem. We stayed in the area for a wedding that didn't have much around to stay. When we walked in the place was cute, clean, quaint, and a perfect stay for an overnight. I wish we had more time to spend outside on the patio and at the fire pit. A little gem away from it all.

We are a farm family who live on a homestead in southwest Michigan and are passionate about good food and quality living. Matt has a background in construction working on custom projects. Building beautiful things is something Matt loves to do. He uses the unique characteristics in the pieces of wood that he cuts on our sawmill to create amazing pieces that are both practical & beautiful. Jen enjoys working from home! Whether it's creating handcrafted soaps & body products, making a top notch dinner from scratch or digging in the garden, Jen is happiest when she's taking care of her people. Our kids love to join in all the family farm activities & adventures.

When we moved to this farm it was run down, the buildings dilapidated & the pasture was a corn field. For over a decade we have transformed this place into what we lovingly refer to as a storybook farm. The buildings have been given a new life and a new purpose to fit the needs of a homestead. Renewing the pastures has created a place for plants & animals to flourish. On our farm there is an ongoing list of projects to do, things are always changing!

Whenever we have people on the farm, they tell us over and over how much they want to live like this.
