Beautiful place with great communication from Shawn! He was available for any questions I had. The house was big enough to host our annual family vacation and Thanksgiving lunch/dinner. Had no issues whatsoever with the beach house!

Wow. That’s really the only way to start.This beach house turned out to be a complete nightmare before the trip was even over. We arrived late Friday night to find the house dirty, but since we were exhausted, we tried to make the best of it. I ended up spending most of the next day cleaning just so we could stay.The home is very lived-in and poorly maintained. The floors are coming up in several places, the oven panel is broken, and the coffee pot was so filthy it’s hard to even describe. The built-in microwave doesn’t work, and while they did provide a countertop one, it was rusted and disgusting. The washer doesn’t spin properly, and the dryer only works on the auto-dry setting—barely. I eventually had to drive 45 minutes to a laundromat in Winnie just to get clean towels.The refrigerator and freezer stopped cooling the night before our departure. The downstairs TV, which we were looking forward to using for the football game, didn’t work either. To their credit, they did tell us that the day we arrived—one small warning among many issues we discovered ourselves.The photos online are either heavily edited or very outdated. I’ve vacationed at Crystal Beach most of my life and stayed in all kinds of homes—some nice, some modest—but this one takes the cake as the worst I’ve ever experienced.

Activities were great- A/C was good- Cabin had a very musty smell throughout the stay- carpets and linoleum stained throughout which took away from ambience- no batteries in remotes in bedrooms- clothes dryer did not work- appliances need updating- Had to pay 175 cleaning fee and it was not clean! Crumbs in cupboards everywhere- silverware and dishes were greasy- very disappointed-

The house was in a good location to the beach. The had plenty of bed space and a nice size living room. Photos of property need to be updated to show the condition of the house at the present time. Upkeep and repairs are needed.

Wonderful location

The house is a short walk to the beach on a quiet street with easy access to the main hwy in Crystal beach. The house does have a portable ac/dehumidifier downstairs which is wonderful to keep the house feeling comfortable with how humid the air is. The half bath outside is not usable as the floor has a hole/weak spot, so we did not use it. The kitchen amenities are great and having the spices, salt, pepper, tea and coffee is above and beyond what any other rental we’ve stayed at in the area. The house is older so don’t expect a brand new house, expect a lived in well loved house. The beds are very comfortable, the amount of beach toys is great, and the space is perfect.

Okay - Not Great

Pros of this house: a short walk to the beach & it’s a charming house overall. The communication was superb! Unfortunately, there’s SO many cons. The cleanliness was absolutely awful. The dining table & multiple chairs were broken. Cabinet doors hanging off the hinges, not a lot of supplies (like laundry detergent,, toilet paper, napkins, some kitchen items, etc
) are very lacking. The house is for sale, so that is now a RED FLAG for us & will not stay at a place if we know it’s for sale. Because for sale = won’t be replacing items that need it. Towel holders were falling off the wall, carpet needs a deep clean x5, it was nasty, toilet paper stand was even wobbly about to break, gunk in corners of the floor. A huge amount of dust buildup on majority of the fans & decorations. The main microwave doesn’t work, but they provided a smaller one on the counter. Even the coffee table in the living room was wobbly & we feared would break if anyone would place something on it. There were screws on the bathroom counter. The cleaning crew or whoever placed wet water filter pitchers in the cabinets instead of drying them & smelled of mildew/mold. All the air fresheners were dried up. There’s just no eye for even the most simple details that could have made the experience better. This is our fault, but had we known there was no baby gate, we would have brought one for the stairs since we have a young toddler. We would not stay here again.

60th Birthday

Place is nice, except, Island cabinet door hinge broken and door hanging. Bathroom cabinet door missing. Bedroom door hard to open. AC not keeping the house cool during heat of the day even with probably unit. Turned itself off daily, had to reset it 3 times on one day. Sat in one of the chairs outside and one side came apart almost fell out of the chair. Outside TV did not work. Saturday afternoon the temperature in the house was over 80 degrees.

Short trip but great stay

This was a great property for our extended family vacation. Convenient to everywhere you would want to go and a short quick walk to the beach. Everyone enjoyed their stay.

Great location!

Arrived on Friday afternoon, checked in & went right to the beach, it’s so close! Stayed at the house til checkout Monday. House was good & had enough space & beds for all. Stairs to get to other 3 big beds was difficult for adults, so had to sleep elsewhere. Overall, the place is a great location, roomy, plenty of outdoor seating, parking for multiple vehicles or golf carts. The price for the weekend was great for the size & location! Would rent the house again!

Host was very accommodating. Arrived in area early, reached out if could leave a trailer in the driveway so could hangout on the beach before check in time. He let us know the house was ready and could access the house early. Not many places would allow that.

Great location!

Conveniently located close to the Big Store for those forgotten grocery items, a very short walk to the beach, and tons of fun for the kids! My only suggestion would be to bring a hotspot for the TV outside. We used our phone hotspots to get the Astros games! Great stay and will likely use this rental again!!

Great location, with some flaws.

Honestly this property is pretty awesome. The house is located so close to the beach, and has everything you need for the stay. My family really only had an issue with the AC. It was above 80 most of the day, despite being set to 70. It didn’t get below 80 till 11 at night, and was back above 80 by 10a. If you don’t mind the heat this listing is phenomenal. It was too uncomfortable for us.
