Had a great stay at the apartment. It is in a quite neighborhood with easy access to everything. It is an older apartment but functionally everything needed for a get away or business trip.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm sorry your arrival was stressful after a long 4-hour drive.
For security reasons, we require a government-issued photo ID before releasing the door code. This is clearly stated in the listing and in our pre-arrival messages. Unfortunately, we didn't receive your ID until very close to check-in time on April 24th, which delayed getting the code to you. We responded as quickly as we could once it was provided.
We always aim for smooth check-ins and are available to assist, but timely communication and providing the required ID helps prevent exactly this kind of delay. We hope this clarifies things and we'd welcome the opportunity to host you again in the future under better circumstances.

Proximity to downtown Durham is the benefit
The space is dated, more so than the pictures make it look, and not laid out with hospitality in mind (i.e. - no towels out in the bathroom, they were all together on a desk in the bedroom, thermostat was off so it took 4 hours to warm up). It’s the front of a shared wall unit on a semi-busy street - and that makes this unit particularly loud - any car doors, cars driving by, or the train going through you hear. The value here is it’s incredible proximity to downtown Durham, and the per night price reflects that. However, all the required extras (insurance and cleaning fee, the pet fee is my choice) - pushed it to well over $400 for one night -which is excessive for this type of location. Additionally, the property response lead, while prompt, was not interested in engaging to be helpful. For example - the thermostat was off, and there was no labeled button to turn it on, and the buttons weren’t responding to me, so I reached out for help. It’s a good thing I figured it out because the response I received was that temperature could be controlled from the thermostat. The fenced yard is also not maintained. Stay here if you want to be in a good neighborhood, close to downtown.

Quiet neighborhood, close to downtown
Clean property, easy check-in. The owners were quick to respond to text and call if necessary. Only downside is not much counter space for cooking but perfect for a weekend or short stay.

Clean, no frills but adequate
Stayed here for Duke parents weekend. It’s close to East Campus and half a block from a lovely paved greenway trail. Place is fine-/ basically a kitchen, common room, and bedroom. Basic. Would benefit from some instructions/ orientation (eg, WiFi login, how to set thermostat, where to put recycling, etc). And maybe some coffee makings.
