Roanoke’s modern Lower Level Apt. (Basement).

Welcome to your home away from home! We are a New Vrbo, The Laurel House. This beautifully renovated basement apartment is located in a highly desirable neighborhood in Roanoke. Private entrance, tiles throughout, new kitchen appliances and utensils, Smart TVs, and new modern style furniture. Includes a modern bathroom with panel spa. Outdoor fire pit, big tree swing for the kids. We are able to accommodate 4 adults & 2 children. Come have fun with the whole family at this unique home.

The space

The 1st room has a full size bed, full futon, Smart TV, a three drawer dresser, and portable heater. 2nd room has a King bed, small collapsible 4 drawers storage unit, Smart TV, nightstands and bench. Full kitchen, modern bathroom with spa panel and a very large living room with lots of comfortable seating areas. We also have a roll away bed which would need to be requested. The laundry room is a shared area and the only area we will enter during your stay. We welcome you to use the washer and dryer however we ask you check your pockets for paper, tissue, coins, money and pens.

Guest access

Private entrance of the basement is accessible to our guest. The laundry area is a shared area. If we plan on accessing the washer and dryer we will notify our guest as a courtesy. The backyard has an outdoor dinning seating area, fire pit with wood that can be used at the far end of the yard near the shed. We also have a black swinging saucer that hangs from one of our main trees that can be used. Upon request we can bring our portable hammock out for use. Please let us know and we can make the proper accommodations.

Other things to note

Noise disclosure of the home: The home was built in 1967, due to this, the original floors of the upper level of the home are hardwood and squeak. Since this is a basement unit, you will hear some of the movement that occurs in the upper level of the home. This includes walking, children playing, laughing, crawling, and squeaking of the stairs. Please be advised that the noise will minimize by 11pm-6am eastern time, both weekdays and weekends. We have a 4-year-old son with autism who is nonverbal. He expresses himself through sounds, clapping, and sometimes walks or runs on his tiptoes. While we do our best to keep noise to a minimum, we also allow him the freedom to be himself. We appreciate your understanding and kindness.

We ask that you follow the rules and our kind request to keeping the basement in a clean and respectful manner.

▪️No parties allowed.
▪️ No smoking or vaping of any kind in the apartment.
▪️Smoking is only allowed in outdoor designated area, chair and ashtray have been placed there for your comfort.
▪️No shoes on area rugs.
▪️Swing in the living room by the fireplace, is for sitting only. Max weight capacity 210 lbs.
▪️Please do not flush any baby wipes, facial wipes, flushable wipes or sanitary products down the toilet.
🔹Please leave used towels and wash cloths in the laundry basket that’s inside the closet and roll it out by the washer and dryer area at the end of your stay.
▪️Do not allow shower door to swing open against the sink.
🔹Please clean any dishes used and place on drying rack.
▪️Do not place wet dishes in the cabinet.
▪️To use Washer and Dryer-Turn on->select settings-> hold start button down for 3 seconds.
▪️Do not add detergent unless the machine is requesting it, it is already preloaded in the washer. Please take notice Washer and Dryer only use Arm and Harmer (HE) brand detergent and softener. If you are allergic to certain detergent products, there is a laundromat nearby. Please let us know and we will provide you with directions on getting there.
▪️Laundry room is a shared area and we may enter the laundry area at any time. We will give notice before entering.
🔹Trash- Is to be taken out daily to the outdoor trash cans, which are located in the drive way off the side of the home near the fence.
▪️Please do not allow trash to accumulate in the apartment.
▪️County Trash collection is on Wednesday mid-morning.
▪️No eating full meals in rooms.
🔴 Any stains on sofa, love seat, bench, chairs, swing or any other areas (including the area rugs) from food, mud, grease, paint, ink or any other stain will result in a $250 cleaning fee. Please notify me if an accidental stain occurs and I will attempt to clean/remove the stain prior to it setting in. We look forward to your stay with us.

Decent places to eat that are inexpensive:

Shakers, Cheeders, Longhorn Steakhouse, Crab du jour, Logan’s. So most of these are located by the mall-Valley View Mall and they have franchises like Olive Garden, Red Robin’s, Chick-fil-A, Fridays, chipotle, Ihop, Mexican restaurants and a few others. The movie theater is also in that area near Logan‘s.

Ichiban Japanese steakhouse (also one of our most favorite places to eat) The sushi is wonderful and very fresh.

They have a CookOut franchise that’s open until 3am. I love their milkshake’s. 1423 Hershberger Rd NW, Roanoke, VA 24012. Off Hershberger Road you will find McD, Taco Bell, Wendy’s, Krispy creams, Starbucks, Sonic, Golden corral it’s a Buffet Pl., Cicis pizza and a few other restaurants.

Fine dinning: Billy’s this is in down town Roanoke, Frankie Rowlands, Luigis Italian restaurant (the best Italian food in Roanoke), Coach and four.

For delivery- I only order Pizza and I order from Franks Italian Restaurant they start to deliver after 5 or you can order for pick up that is my favorite pizza because it’s the closest to NY style. Their phone number is 1-540-400-7678.

Breweries- Parkway Brewing Company, Olde Salem Brewing Company, Big Lick Brewing Company, A Few Old Goats Brewing, So we like Parkway Brewery and Old Salem brewery and A Few Old Goats and Others downtown Roanoke. There’s also Barrel Chest which is a tasting room that’s open over on Franklin Road.
