Welcome to our newly remodeled (Spring 2025) family-owned lakefront cottage on beautiful Hogback Lake — a private, peaceful all-sports lake perfect for year-round fun and relaxation!

This charming 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom cottage sits on a double lot with 75 feet of private beach frontage, offering plenty of space for outdoor activities. Whether you’re planning a summer getaway, fall color tour, winter ice fishing trip, or a spring escape, our lake house is the ideal destination.

Our cottage is centrally located between Traverse City, Grand Rapids, and Ludington (about 1 hour each), and only 25 minutes to Cadillac or Big Rapids. Enjoy the perfect mix of rural tranquility and convenient access to shops, restaurants, golf courses, and trails.

Guest Access:
You’ll enjoy exclusive access to the entire cottage and property during your stay — nothing shared. The second lot offers even more outdoor space, plus a large shed with kayaks, floats, and beach gear for your use. There is ample parking for multiple vehicles and trailers.

The Neighborhood:
Hogback Lake is a quiet, private all-sports lake surrounded by other lakes, rolling hills, woods, and farmland. You’ll often hear loons in the morning and watch eagles soar overhead. The community is friendly and respectful, making this a perfect escape from the city hustle.

Getting Around:
We have plenty of on-site parking. Feel free to bring bikes, mopeds, or golf carts — just please be mindful of lake residents and keep speeds low around the neighborhood.

Pet Policy:
We welcome up to 2 well-behaved dogs. A pet fee of $25/day per dog applies. The first dog is included in the pet fee when you book. If you are bringing a second dog, an additional $25/day will be billed separately. Please let us know in advance if you are bringing pets.

Nice little cottage on the lake. Kids had a great time on the beach, and were able to catch bluegills right from shore. Great Lake cottage for a family stay.

Great place!

Really nice property. Nicely decorated, amazing beach which is family friendly. Air conditioning unit only in master bedroom upstairs but it's pretty cool at nights. Overall a great stay!

Beautiful Property

This property was everything I was hoping it would be and just really, really nice. The house was well-appointed and maintained. There was plenty of room for 5 adults and 2 dogs. The dogs had lots of fun too!

Wonder cottage, great fishing!

We had a great stay! Fishing was great and the cottage is wonderful. The everything was well stocked and clean. The property is very large with plenty of room to play games. The girls really enjoyed the kayaks. Angie was a pleasure to work with and was responsive to questions. We had a wonderful time and would stay again.

Such a beautiful quiet cottage. Natural light shining through two sliding glass doors and 4 windows in the living room that overlook the lake. Cottage was so beautifully and tastefully decorated. Host was responsive and easygoing. Still had kayaks and available mid-September! We enjoyed using them on the lake with all the fall colors changing. We had our two dogs with us and they too enjoyed being away from home, the lake, and the hiking. So glad for a pet friendly host.

Beautiful setting with lasting memories. Upper bdrm,kit.& L.R.with deck provided comfort & privacy while the lower allowed children TV, bedrooms, living room of their own. The beach was large with an extra bonus of adjoining lot, where shed was filled with Kyaks,blow ups, paddle boat. Fire pit used nightly for marsh mellow roast.This was a dream vacation,in a tiny quiet city with a great restaurant . Thankyou for the best birthday with my grandchildren. Theres no place like home.

There were 5 kayaks. Plenty for all to take an early morning cruise.

Perfect quiet getaway

This house was perfect and even nicer in person than in the pictures. Everything was clean and well maintained. The house had great air flow and shade while the beach is in full sun all day. There was also plenty of extra space for our family of five. We would definitely book again!

Well stocked and comfortable.

The cottage was very well stocked with pretty much everything you could need. It was also very clean and comfortable. We took the kayaks and paddle boat out, floated on tubes, and putter around the small but beautiful lake on the pontoon boat. This is a great place for a family getaway to the lake. Angie was a very attentive and gracious host. We had a great time, and would definitely come back.

Great house, great lake

The house was great. It had everything that we could have needed. Even things we didn't think of needing. Clean, stocked cupboards, lots of beds. She really thought of everything. The property was great as well. Nice sandy beach area for the kids to play, and lots of water toys to use. We had a blast. Nice quiet lake with very little traffic.

Amazing hidden gem

Overall nice and relaxing. We were astounded by how well stocked everything was. We stay at rentals often that are minimal on goods in the house such as TP, trash bags, condiments, etc. This place had it all and more! Nice quiet neighborhood and lake. Beautiful views. Host was very prompt and helpful. We would definitely consider returning.

Beautiful Lake House

The property was perfect for our needs. It was very clean and well equipped. We didn’t have time to go out on the lake, but everything was there for us…ready to go! The only downside was the dirt roads leading to the property. Be prepared for a very bumpy ride…lol…and watch for Amish horse and buggies. Once you get there it’s just beautiful…especially with the fall colors. Just gorgeous!!!

Great Experience

House and property were great. We are first timers using VRBO and putting together this kind of group stay and it was a very good experience. This house was better equipped then my own home. Access to the kayaks and use of the beach created some really great memories for our family. 4 generations, including our patriarch with mobility issues. The layout of the home allowed him easy access and worked WAY better than a hotel! I would not hesitate to return to the area, this home or any home hosted by Angie! Thank you. Priceless!

Great fall weekend!

Within 1 hour of arriving, our teenagers were already out catching frogs and kayaking. Great to see everyone of their screens for the weekend! We were close enough to the Manistee National Forrest to spend a day hiking and enjoying the fall colors. Beautiful view of the lake from the house, definitely 5/5. Pantry and kitchen had tons of extras, rooms had everything, very well thought out! No wood for the bonfire when we arrived; a neighbor told us weekdays you can pick up wood from the saw mill down the street. We missed the time frame but were able to buy bundles at the local market. Great family house, everyone enjoyed the extended weekend!

Perfect weekend

We were celebrating my husband's birthday with another family. The home was very well kept, and perfectly clean. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed for the relaxing weekend. You can tell, that the owners are using their vacation home often, which was a plus, because everything was very practical. The paddle boat was a big hit with our kids and we went out fishing on the row boat. Beach towels were provided and the beds were freshly made. Thank you Angie for letting us spend a weekend there. It was a wonderful vacation!

I grew up on Hogback Lake. It is a very nice Private Lake in a quiet rural setting. I am 2nd generation to own this cottage property. The original home was torn down in the early 2000's and rebuilt to what it is today. We are continuing to upgrade the house and the property with new amenities. My family has owned the property for approx 11 years and my parents owned it prior to since about 1994. Before that my parents bought a tiny cottage just down the road in 1984 before buying a bigger property. So I have basically grown up on this lake and raised my kids on this lake. My kids are now grown and we decided as a family to share it! We love it and hope that others can see what we see.

Now that our kids are grown, we find ourselves wanting to travel more and would love others to be able to enjoy our place on the lake.

Private Lake known for great fishing year round. This is an All-Sports lake with a private boat launch. Most think that Leroy MI is a "drive around town" and nothing to see. There are so many cool things in our community and in the surrounding communities. We are centrally located between some really cool things!!
