Private Charming Casita, complete with all the modern conveniences.

Gated New Mexico Southwest Casita, with private patios and free parking, views of the lights of Albuquerque, plus volcanoes and the Sandia Mountains. Hot air balloons launch on most mornings around the house. Enjoy sunsets, wildlife like; quail, roadrunners and the sounds of coyotes moving thought the desert on a nightly prowl. During the sunsets you will see Great Horned owls swooping down to get their nightly snacks while thought-out the day you will see, Red-Tailed Hawks, Turkey Vultures and "Cooper's" Hawks fly over daily. We have just added a private blocked in back patio and out-door kitchen facing west, to enjoy our fantastic high desert sunsets - Natures best.

The Casita was very clean and well furnished. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. The bedroom is cozy and space is utilized well. My son enjoyed his sleeping arrangement on the couch, and the living room area is comfy to unwind in. The bathroom is large with a great shower/tub. Our host was very gracious and communicated well through the VRBO app. My family and I greatly enjoyed our stay.

My husband and I went to NM to visit friends and decided to stay at this beautiful property. We loved the quietness and beauty it provided. I love the monsoon season and this property was a great place to watch and experience a quick yet powerful storm. We had all the amenities we wanted and more. So relaxing. Short but wonderful visit

We stayed five days while visiting family nearby. The remote location felt like home (we live in the country), and Mike and Bernie made us feel like family. We have recommended them to family that might visit the area in the future. Nothing was lacking--no complaints.

Amazing casita in Rio Rancho

Mike and Bernie are the best! We had a great stay. The casita is beautiful and cozy! I loved watching the sunset from our private porch. Our hosts thought of everything. There were snacks, water and plenty of linens. They even supplied a book of movies we could borrow. I can’t say enough about this VRBO!!!

The Casita was a delightful home away from home while visiting our son in Albuquerque. Mike & Bernie are wonderful hosts and made our stay memorable. The Casita is clean, comfortable and has everything you need for a short or long stay. The area is safe, quiet, beautiful and close to amazing shopping, restaurants and attractions. We enjoyed dining out as well as eating in, utilizing the well stocked kitchen and grill. We highly recommend The Casita

Staying at the Casita with the views was the best Vrbo experience ever. Safe and Quiet, Just out of the way with great views but close to everything you would need . Coffee on the back patio in the morning after a good sleep on the most comfortable bed! This Casita had everything you need to enjoy your stay. Decor, so cute and the skylights made us think we left the lights on . Michael and Bernie , thank you for sharing your Casita ! Michael is from Ramsgate England, born abroad of an American father who was in the US Air Force. Michael (a US Navy Veteran) was the City Coordinator and Manager of the world renowned "NM Veterans Memorial Park and Visitor's Center" in Albuquerque NM. A 26-acre Park with a Museum, Library and 100s of Veteran related Monuments. Retired as of January 2025 and fulltime property manager, of the Casitas' site.

Bernie was born in Roswell New Mexico and has lived here most of her adult life. Bernie's father was also in the US Air Force, and she has traveled to multiple exotic destinations like; Guam, Philippines and Europe while growing up. Currently Bernie just retired in 2026 from a Non-Profit Organization as a Loan Representative helping students with their education and finances.

Together they live in the main house, (which is separate from the Casita) manage and maintain the "Southwest Casita Escape" property. Michael and Bernie are always enhancing the property with several key features like; additional parking, upgrading the furniture, sanitizing equipment between each stay to ensure good health and the prevention of germs, and many other features.
The owners travel themselves to see what other owners and resorts are doing to make each stay fun and safe. Their goal is to make every stay memorable and safe.

Voici pourquoi l’hĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement

20 years ago we chose this neighborhood for its peace and quiet, but more importantly, the stunning landscape views and abundant wildlife. There's no dangerous wildlife, just plenty of squirrels, quails, hawks, turkey vultures, and coyotes. Plus the area is very close to shopping and restaurants, but still feels urban.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

We are located on the east side of the ridge formed by the volcano's lava flow, on the west side of Albuquerque. From our land, you can see the Sandia Mountains, all seven volcanoes, Mount Taylor, and the Santa Fe Mountains. Our unique location allows us to see lots of wildlife and yet be very close to shopping and restaurants.
