Elizabethtown Ohio River / Shawnee National Forest

Hi and thanks so much for considering us! We have a modest three-bedroom, one-and-a-half bath home in the heart of Elizabethtown, Illinois with amazing Ohio River views. Our small town friendliness and hospitality greets you around every corner as you relax on a quiet street within short walking distance of a waterside restaurant, local bars, and historic sites. We allow pets for a one time fee of 50.00 per stay whether you're with us for a day or a week or longer.
The space
A stay with us includes bottled water, breakfast bars and coffee. We also provide individually wrapped soaps and personal bottles of shampoo.
Guest access
Guests have access to the entire house. Three bedrooms, 1 and 1/2 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, and a sunroom/game room.
Other things to note
The quality of the cellular signal is spotty in the Shawnee National Forest. Free Wi-fi is included at our home so signal can be had if set to use it for calls etc.

“Down Home” Reunion trip

We had a wonderful stay at this charming house in a lovely small river town! It was the perfect spot for “home base” for our family reunion held in Karbers Ridge — plenty of space, comfortable, and clean. We enjoyed exploring the area, walking to grab an ice cream, look at the river and a short drive away for delicious meals at Strickland Seafood in Paducah, and a lunch at Patti’s 1880’s, and we also had some fun at Harrah’s in Metropolis. This home made a perfect base for making family memories. Highly recommend!

Nice place to stay for the cost.

Very hospitable. Lots of games, videos, and everything cooking related available. Some of the items are in need of repair. Neither TV worked (batteries could have been dead in remotes) but the nearby National forest kept us plenty occupied!

Hunting trip

House was perfect for our needs. 3 bedrooms & the 1-1/2 baths was nice for 3 hunters. Washer & dryer was perfect. Carport was great for keeping our hunting supplies dry. We will like to book again next year, if available.

Exceeded Expecations

I knew this place had good ratings but for such a low price, I had expectations set modestly- this place exceeded my groups expectations. Place was so clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The hosts were so receptive and definitely went above and beyond when I didn't plan so well for one aspect of the trip- they stepped up right away and saved a whole day plan for us- me and my friends kept saying how happy we were with this place entire time- great location, 40 feet from river and fishing pier, quick drive to cave in rock, and relatively short drive to Garden of the Gods- nice quiet neighborhood- best deal I have found on VRBO was this place

Hog rock

We came for the rally at hog rock. This place was located near by. Overall good place to stay. Had several spiders around the rear entrance that my wife did not like. Otherwise it was clean and tidy.

Property was sufficient for what we needed. Updated restaurant and wi-fi password info would be helpful. Air-conditioning situation was challenging but not a deal breaker. Cleaning crew could do a much better job.

This was a perfect quick weekend away for our family. Owners are very helpful and quick to respond, I especially appreciated the water in the fridge when we got there!

Shawnee forest

Everything was clean and as described. Elizabethtown is cute and hopefully gets few more little shops. Riverside mercantile was great! Our dog seemed comfortable and relaxed. Views of river were fantastic.

Elizabethtown home

We had a good time and really enjoyed ourselves the house was very clean and well stocked for the most part the house said it’s big enough to hold 6 adults and 1 child but that was a bit much for the house. There wasn’t a enough room for us to all sit in the living room and watch a movie nor was there enough table space for us to sit and eat a meal the table was small and only accompanied 4 people but we made it work all in all we had a great weekend
