As a repeat guest, we were very excited to be returning to this particular location for another week. It is a tastefully remodeled carriage house and our previous interactions with the owner have always been positive. However, after our latest experience we are no longer able to recommend this location. Due to an unforeseen medical emergency we were unable to travel to Cleveland as originally planned. We were forced to reschedule all appointments and procedures at the Clinic as well as other engagements. We contacted the host immediately and asked to change the dates of our reservation to another available week in December. However, the host was not willing to work with us. While she does have a no cancelation policy, we were not requesting a cancelation. This was a guaranteed reservation and we had already paid in full. We just needed to change the dates. We are very surprised and disappointed with the host’s intransigence. She got our money- for a week we ultimately could not use. To stay there a few weeks later would have required us to make another reservation and pay in full-again. Sadly, we will not be renting from this host again. If you choose to stay here, do so with the knowledge that any unforeseen circumstances you may encounter are likely not be accommodated.

Not a good experience. My daughter and I went to check in at approximately 6:00 pm. The carriage house had not be cleaned. The garbage in the kitchen had not be taken out, dirty towels were on the floor, sheets had not been changed, counter tops were dirty, etc. Texted the owner and she was very apologetic and said she would send someone to clean. She sent someone who was staying in the main house to clean. This person said she was doing this as a favor. I asked the owner to text me when it was cleaned. My daughter and I had 2 small dogs with us. We drove around and made do waiting to go back. At 8:30ish I texted and asked if the carriage house was ready. No response. It was dark by this time and we were in an unfamiliar city and secured other accommodations. We did not return. The owner never texted to see if everything was okay. The owner said she was out of town with her job and did the best she could. We ALL have jobs and renting her carriage house is one of them. My advice is to arrive right at check in time to make sure everything is clean. I am not a person who stays out late in an unfamiliar city. I'm in the for the night once it is dark, so I was not comfortable going back after 8:30 pm.

Kristen's carriage house was perfect for us as we were in town for the Clinic. It is so close that we took a Lyft car anywhere we went, including downtown. The carriage house was quiet and in a nice area to walk. We discovered the Lakeview Cemetery and the Garfield Monument for an excellent hike. Kristen has furnished the carriage house with comfy furniture and beds, along with high end appliances and electronics. Highly recommend!

Very private stay!

We had a great time staying, it was very convenient to everywhere we wanted to visit while in Cleveland. Super private with the Carriage House being at the back of the property. I was able to take my older Shih-tzu out for walks in the garden area and on the sidewalk without much traffic. Very clean, bigger bathrooms and overall a great historic place to stay.

Truely Hidden Gem In Cleveland Heights!

Private, secure, close to everything especially Little Italy, which is a must visit maybe 3 mins away.The Carriage House is modern, up to date, and clean. Every convenient item you would want, kitchen fully stocked, professional grade stove/oven, furniture very comfortable, hardwood floors, a/c very fuctional. The pictures truely represent the outstanding quality of the Carriage House.Kristen, very accessable, understanding goes out of her way to accomodate.Not the last time we will be visiting for sureThank you Kristen!

Fabulous !!

This is a small, meticulously cared-for carriage house behind a very large home, built in 1917, that is in the process of being brought back to its original splendor. The neighborhood is quiet, super-safe (I should know because I actually live just a mile away) and within a five-minute walk of a small, quaint shopping district. My son got married, so I rented this carriage house for my two brothers and a sister. They raved about how nice it was. If you want to be in the heart of Cleveland Heights or near University Circle, you couldn't do better than to stay at this carriage house.

Everything we needed

CWRU parents here for a visit. Finally a Cleveland vrbo i will absolutely return to! The host was so wonderful. The little house is a perfect layout. Our daughter ended up sleeping over to get a break from the dorms and for some homemade food. Great walking neighborhood and close enough to walk to the university. Very quiet and comfortable.

Wonderful experience

We loved staying at Kristen’s Carriage House. Everything you could want was available. Furniture and beds were comfortable. Top of the line appliances. And to top it off our first night we were visited by a gorgeous buck lounging in the back yard. We also had a tour of the mansion that Kristen and her mom,Margo, are renovating. (The Carriage House is located behind the mansion- the Harry Payer Mansion). The proximity is perfect for going to Severance Hall, Playhouse Square, Cleveland Clinic and the Coventry section. Parking is off street and safe in a well lit driveway. Wonderful experience and we will be back!!

Cosy bungalow near campus

Our family of four - with two adult boys stayed for three nights in this great property. We loved the location that was a short walk from little Italy and nearby the case western reserve campus. The kitchen had high end appliances and it was great to have two bathrooms and a washer dryer as we stayed during college move in. The privacy and easy check in are ideal. In a perfect world there would be at least one king bed but that is just me being picky. We will stay here again for sure!

Just as expected and close to everything

The Carriage House was a perfect home base while we supported our daughter through surgery at The Cleveland Clinic. Easy drive to the hospital, easy walk to restaurants before and during recovery, clean, and a lovely neighborhood for walking our dog. Wonderful home near CWRU

Our family was in Cleveland last weekend for our son's graduation. As expected, almost all hotels were already booked. However, we preferred to stay in a home with a kitchen to cater to our restricted diets. Kristen's Carriage House was the perfect choice since it was close to CWRU and also to our son's apartment. The Carriage House is behind the main house and the path is a bit run down and not easy to maneuver if you have strollers or need a wheelchair. But the house has been tastefully decorated with lovely Kathryn White paintings, matching rooster themed kitchenware and cosy bedrooms. Kristen was kind enough to let us check out at noon because my son had a zoom class to attend. We really appreciate her flexibility and thank her for being such a good host.

Great Time in Cleveland

This house was first quality all the way. We really enjoyed our time there. It was so convenient to everything we wanted to see. There was also a nice grocery store just five minutes away. My sister and I were traveling with our elderly mother and this place was perfect. Large walk in shower, one level and only two steps up to the house. Check in was easy and our host was very responsive. I would definitely stay her again when I come back to Cleveland.
