Heart of Hualalai is a peaceful space where natural beauty and serenity meet mindful architectural design, environmental consciousness and high technology. A home that you can work remotely from, for weeks on end, with complimentary gigabit internet service and mesh Wi-Fi throughout. Heart of Hualalai includes four private bedrooms and comfortably sleeps up to 10 guests on luxurious memory foam mattresses, linens and bedding.


At Heart of Hualalai, feel a world away, yet close to everything as the home is located less than 10 minutes from downtown Kona and local beaches. Expansive ocean, coastline and garden views, from Keauhou Bay in the south to the Kona airport in the north are ever present. There is nothing quite as soul soothing as gazing westward to the ocean while sipping a cup of hot Kona coffee in the morning or enjoying the epic sunsets with a frosty beverage, from the lanai bar, in the evening.


Heart of Hualalai is sited strategically across its park-like grounds - hidden from the street and behind private gates. The three interconnected structures: main house (kitchen/DR/LR/3BR/2BA), master cottage suite (LR/1BR/1BA) and caretaker’s studio, together with multiple lanais and breezeway sitting area, total over 4,000 square feet of indoor and covered outdoor living space. There are many cozy nooks and thoughtful built-ins throughout.


The architectural design of Heart of Hualalai takes full advantage the property’s 1,000-foot, cooler, elevation. Coastal and mountain breezes, day and night, keep the home at an ideal temperature and render air conditioning truly unnecessary. Your days will be kissed by a gentle onshore flow, while the night offers the gift of cool mountain breezes for the perfect sleep. Coqui frogs are often heard throughout the night and the neighborhood roosters start their day jobs early.


Heart of Hualalai’s thoughtful and creative tropical design including beautiful hand-crafted French and clerestory windows, high ceilings, raw-cut cedar walls, numerous built-in seats and nooks, and gorgeous views out of every window. The home incorporates materials consistent with its tropical ethos, including solid mahogany, teak and koa cabinets, ipe hardwood floors, and fossil-inspired porcelain tile. The open kitchen is a chef’s delight configured for serious cooking and entertaining.


Numerous paths meander through the terraced gardens at Heart of Hualalai. The property has many tropical fruit trees and plants to enjoy, including: bananas, avocados, mangos, passion fruits, vanilla orchids, lemons, limes and oranges. The property also features a wood-fired pizza oven, TWO laundry centers, luggage storage room, two outdoor showers and numerous mosaic features.


New to Heart of Hualalai, in 2023, is a home fitness center; everything to keep you in shape during your stay.


Heart of Hualalai’s provides an immersive audio and video experience throughout. Each living space and bedroom is equipped with Sonos speakers and 4K smart TVs. The office nook, in the master cottage, has a dedicated 4k monitor, office chair, dock/attachments for PC and Mac laptops, keyboards/mice, wireless laser printer, etc.


The spa is heated with a high efficiency, on-demand, heat pump set to 102 degrees. The pool is heated through a rooftop solar system designed to keep the pool between 80 and 85 degrees for your comfort. Generally, the pool will be warmer on sunnier days and cooler on cloudier days.

Heart of Hualalai is a hosted vacation rental. The caretaker, your on-site host, occupies an attached studio with separate entrance. They are available for your needs 24/7 and normally only seen when needed.

Heart Of Hualalai is located in a peaceful, quiet residential neighborhood. Our Good Neighbor Policy includes quiet hours from 9:00pm until 7:00am. Excessive noise disturbances during non-quiet hours are not allowed.

Our group of eight had an amazing stay at Heart of Hualalai. The property was beautiful, spotless, and perfectly located for exploring the island. The accommodations were very comfortable and well-appointed, making it feel like a true home away from home. We especially loved the peaceful atmosphere, the beautiful pool and spa and the stunning surroundings. Everything exceeded our expectations, and we would gladly stay here again. Owner, Laurens, and caretaker, Heidi, were extremely helpful and attentive. Highly recommend for anyone visiting the Big Island!

We have rented more than 20 properties in Hawaii over the past decades and enjoy trying new places, but this house was so wonderful in so many ways that we are planning on returning. The view from the pool and lanai ( as well as bedrooms and living room) were beautiful. The property is so well maintained with myriad thoughtful touches. The kitchen was extremely well stocked. The pool and hot tub were a wonderful oasis. Communication with the on site property manager as well as the owners was impeccable. I most strongly recommend this property.

We LOVE everything about this house. This is our 3rd stay here and hope to return every year to this house. My family and I had such a great experience at this amazing property! Everything about our experience was incredible! Laurens and Heidi were helpful and very responsive! Our experience was 5 star plus plus. From beginning to end it was perfect. Hosts were wonderful and so communicative. The estate was amazing. Amenities top drawer. Drawers were even labeled so you could find items (towels were like a four seasons!). The very best part was the amazing view from so many areas of the property, particularly the pool. We had an absolutely amazing stay at the Heart Of Hualalai! Laurens was a gracious host and the on-site property manager, Heidi, was so helpful as well. Everything was easy as far as arrival and the house had everything we needed to relax as soon as we unpacked.The property grounds and pool and spa are gorgeous. My kids loved swimming in the pool and exploring the grounds. Our group of 7 (5 adults and 2 kids) had plenty of room to spread out. There were so many cozy and view filled spots to sit and enjoy the property or read a good book, of which there are many. There was also a cabinet full of games and a drawer of craft supplies. We loved cooking in the well appointed kitchen with a full array of spices and everything we could possibly need. The coffee bar also had everything we needed! We appreciated the laundry room, the fully stocked supply of beach bags, chairs, snorkel gear and boogie boards!The location is wonderful, we loved being up on the hillside and enjoyed watching the sun set into the ocean. The closest beaches, downtown Kona and grocery stores were only about 10 minutes away. The tiny charming town of Holualoa is just a 4-5 minute drive.This house is truly the perfect vacation house. Everything was so thoughtfully curated and we felt very cared for. Laurens was a kind and thoughtful host who checked in with us and even helped make sure we were able to make it to see episode 50 of Kilauea at Volcano Natl. Park. Just book it and enjoy!

Family Reunion Hawaiian Getaway!

AMAZING! This house was beyond my expectations! A beautiful setting for a family reunion. Everyone had a great time and this place has everything you need. Lots of beach toys/chairs/towels for the beach days. Lazy days by the pool were my favorite. Perfect places to watch the sunset, kitchen has everything you need for family dinners, lots of places to hang out both inside and out and lots of games for game night. Overall this place was perfect for us, we will definitely be back highly recommend!!

A Great Space

This is a beautiful, comfortable house with everything our family needed for a great Kona vacation. We brought a group of eight adults and found plenty of space for getting together and for time on our own. The house is beautifully decorated, has a great view of the ocean, and the owners were very attentive. And, of course, there’s lots of fun things to do on the Big Island. Our gang called it our “best vacation yet.”

Magnificent week with family during the iron man week in Kona

I don’t think there is a better place to stay at to enjoy your time while in Kona. This location is absolutely stunning. We could not wait to watch the amazing sunset and the 180 degrees ocean view. Besides these amazing features, the house itself is incredible. The house is fully equiped with everything that you could think of. We particularly enjoyed the bodyboards. Wow! Where to start? The home is amazing and Lauren’s and Kimberly have thought of completely everything to make this the best vacation home ever! Enjoy the well appointed kitchen as every detail has been thought out, organized, and executed. Abundance of towels, snorkel gear, and household amenities greet you. Comfortable beds and pillows. With every screened window and door opened, along with the ceiling fans and the local Hawaiian night sounds, created a relaxing and restful night’s sleep. The home is a display of beauty and charm around every direction, as well as comfort. The grounds and views complete the total ambience of this VRBO experience. A truly amazing house!

This was by far the best house we have stayed in on the islands! Everything was spotless and gorgeous. The artwork throughout the house was so beautiful, the surround sound Sonos, the chefs kitchen and the pool and hot tub! The view, the grounds/garden, the fresh oranges, avocado, lemons and limes! The bedrooms are so comfortable, the bathrooms had everything you would ever need. The breezes keep it cool at night which we didn’t know we needed! We loved everything about this house and not one complaint. The owners have thought of absolutely everything and have made it such a welcoming haven, we cannot wait to return!

40th Birthday Girls Trip

Our experience was amazing. Laurens and Kimberly have thought of EVERYTHING. Heart of Hualalai was the perfect base for our big island trip. The house amenities are endless, the hosts attention to detail is unmatched. Between Laurens, Kimberly and Heidi we had all our needs met during our trip and excellent recommendations while on island.The house was so intentionally set up from hooks where you needed them, labels so you knew where everything was, sharp knives, sunscreen, gorgeous pool, breath taking sunset. I could go on! There were 9 of us this trip and we all would highly recommend this house for your next Big island stay!

Our best rental experience ever!

As full time travelers, we've had the great fortune of staying in some incredible locations around the world, but this beautiful home is the single best we've ever experienced. We've never had a more well appointed home from the amazing chef's kitchen to the extensive beach gear to the amazing pool and hot tub. The attention to detail was extraordinary. It was the perfect setting for our entire family, including our 3 year old grandchild. From the very beginning, our hosts and on-site caretakers were exceptional and accommodating. If you're looking for an incredible location with incredible views and close to everything in the Kailua-Kona area, we couldn't recommend this home more!
