Wonderful Family Vacation

Amazing house in a great location. Perfect for families. Central heat/AC throughout with lots of indoor/outdoor common space but also good sized private bedrooms spread across house for private/quieter areas. Great area to walk with strollers with many coffee shops and food options. Would love to stay here again.

Location Is Perfect

Home was very comfortable. Great view of ocean from upstairs deck and master bedroom. Backyard was great for time outside. Coffee shops and restaurants are a quick walk away. Pacific Beach and La Jolla Beach are short drive or bike ride. Would love to stay again.

Great getaway for large groups

This was a very clean and cozy home with a beautiful view from the balcony and top bedroom. The kitchen was fully equipped with all of our needs and the bbq worked great. We enjoyed the ping pong table and backyard very much. My contact with the manager was pleasant and they were very accommodating. A couple things could have made our stay perfect. Some of the house is outdated, especially the plumbing, and could use an update. For example, we had little toddlers that takes baths but there was no way to close the drains in both downstairs baths. Overall, other than a few minor things, we had a great time.

Family Vacation at Bird Rock

We had a great stay at the Bird Rock Beach House. Perfect layout for two families with little kids. We loved the backyard and the fully stocked kitchen complete with plenty of kid plates and utensils. The only thing missing from the kitchen were potholders and extra kitchen towels. The home was super clean and the beds were really comfortable. The beach chairs, umbrellas, toys and wagon were all in great shape unlike other rentals we have stayed at. Enjoyed a morning walk to Bird Rock Coffee Roasters with the family. Loved that coffee shops and restaurants were just a short walk away. Our new favorite rental for the family, would highly recommend!

Family vacation

We really enjoyed our family vacation time at Bird Rock Beach House and it was a perfect fit for our family’s needs. The house was clean, well laid out, and provided extra amenities to help make the stay more comfortable. We would definitely stay here again.

Little slice of serenity!

We adored our time at this perfect getaway! The house was perfection, each detail was well thought out and comfortable. The location is incomparable with many delicious restaurants, coffee shops and world class beaches within walking distance, we hardly ever used the car. The backyard is an oasis and we loved having coffee on the top deck, looking at the gorgeous views. Each room was well appointed and well designed with perfect shades and room for your belongings. We were particularly impressed with the selection of beach essentials like towels, beach chairs, a wagon, and sand toys. Our kids had a blast with the ping pong table. We will absolutely rent this oasis again.

Great quiet family home

House has everything you need to enjoy La Jolla. The kitchen is the best we have seen at a rental. Each bedroom room has plenty of space and the rooms are spread out to allow privacy. The house is decorated nicely and it’s super clean but not in a comfortable style. If there were some Improvements to recommend it would be to offer more sofa pillows and some throw blankets. It’s a bit cold and stark in the house. Also all the rooms lacked extra pillows, blankets and towels.

Broken alarm, backed-up sinks, broken door & more!

Very poorly maintained house; our stay was so bad that we moved after two days (we were scheduled to stay for a week). When we checked in at night, the house's alarm system was beeping loudly in the garage and in the upstairs bedroom area. We could hear the beeping throughout the house, and it took over 2 hours (!) for the property management company to figure out how to silence the system. Then the wi-fi went out (came back the next morning). Opened the dishwasher that afternoon to find truly filthy dirty dishes. Ran the laundry (wanted to be sure we were actually using clean towels), and both the kitchen (!) and garage sinks immediately backed up with foul smelling water (sewage?). Sliding glass door does not lock. To top it all off, the host/property management company misrepresented the refund that we would receive. We were under the impression that Vrbo prefers renters to resolve issues directly with the property managers, so we tried to do that. Now Vrbo won't help us with the refund issue and explains that their Traveler Care Department only assists renters currently occupying a property and operates under something Vrbo calls the Golden Rule. Of course we were no longer in the property because we had left as soon as possible after the sinks backed up (the last straw in a dreadful experience), and we had been promised a refund, including all fees (not true!). So the house left very much to be desired, the property managers were not forthcoming, and Vrbo has not helped. Nice La Jolla neighborhood and decent view from the master bedroom. But there are truly lovely and updated rental homes in La Jolla (I have rented many) with ethical property managers. Pretty much a ruined vacation and feel very ripped off. I'd give this house zero stars if I could because that's what it deserves. Skip this one and find a good house!

Loving La Jolla

This was by far our favorite VRBO rental we have stayed at. Didn’t feel like a rental, was well stocked, and a beautiful layout. Family could have their space but all be together enjoying time. A beautiful neighborhood and walking distance to coffee, restaurants, and a beautiful beach view!

Great Stay in Bird Rock!

This was a perfect arrangement for two families traveling with small children (ages 2-6). The kids loved playing in the enclosed backyard, while the adults took advantage of the deck. Bonus points for having kids' utensils, plates, cups, etc. and for providing sand toys, chairs and even a slip-n-slide! Definitely a five star experience. My only wish would have been for a pack-n-play (or some sort of portable crib) to be available for use.

Beautiful Birdrock

Newly renovated. Very quiet neighborhood. Great location, 5 min drive from Windandsea. Walking distance from many restaurants. Beautiful backyard. The ping pong table was very fun for the family. Rental company was very receptive to any issues we had.

Fabulous House

My family and I stayed at Chelsea5552 when we traveled to San Diego for my son's wedding. It was a perfect house for the 8 of us. I loved everything about it. The house itself was clean and functional for a large family. The deck had a beautiful view of the ocean. The beds were all so comfortable and the kitchen was fabulous. I made the wedding cake for the wedding and everything I needed was found in this kitchen. The large dining table inside as well as outside was prefect for our family dinners. The area was perfect for walking to coffee shops, restaurants and the beach. We would definitely stay at this property again.

Great place for Family or Friends

This place is beautiful and super roomy, the backyard just makes the place it was awesome to have that space in the afternoon and the lights are a great addition. The place has a great look to it and the street was never so crowded so we could always find additional street parking.
