À propos de cet hébergement
Charming countryside cottage and garden near forest
Out country cottage honours the beautiful architectural tradition of rural Romania. It is carefully built with natural materials (wood and straws) providing confort and intimacy in a cosy atmosphere. It is located in a picturesque village, in the middle of a spacious homested and very close to the forest.
Our cottage was built with respect for the rural architecture, it encompasses elements which we inherited from our great-grandparents whose old house inspired this "younger sister". It was built mainly with natural materials such as wood and straw and it is surrounded by a great patio which opens into our beautifull garden and orchard.
The cottage consists of three individual suites plus a common suite dedicated to kitchen/dining at the ground floor and a library/working space in the attic.
All three individual suites have a ground level, arranged as a small living area, equipped with a sofa bed and an attic, arranged as sleeping area with ensuite bathroom.
The house is located on a (very :) ) secondary road in the village, in a splendid and picturesque neighbourhood. The house is surrounded by our 5000 square meters homestead - orchard, garden, yard, backyard, pasture and animals (chicken, ducks, geese, goats and of course cats and one lovley dog). Our orchard has very old nut trees, mature apple trees, and young fruit trees of all sorts. And grapes. And raspberries. :)
Guest access
Feel free to drink your coffee in any of the verandas, to have a lazy walk in the garden, sit barefoot on the grass, read or sleep in the hammock under our ash trees, pick some raspberries or some apples, climb in the walnut or use any other space in & out the house at heart's desire.
Interaction with guests
Upon request, we proudly offer a delightful and rich traditional Romanian breakfast, using exclusively natural products, home made or from local farming, including the most precious local product - round pressed & smoked cheese. Please ask us in advance about cooking for you.
Also, upon request we can provide traditional lunch / dinner / barbecue.
Other things to note
We love meeting new people and being helpful with everything since we love this place and region with all my heart, but if you just want to lay back and enjoy some privacy, we'd easily switch to "silent cat" mode.
Being placed in a natural reserve, it is not too strange for different bugs to appear seldom in the house, in spite of the repellents we regularly use. Please acknowledge that in the region there are no lethal bugs or critters - but if this makes you feel more comfortable, get your bug spray with you.
We gladly offer bikes for rental. Please ask us in advance.
You'll fall in love (we did also!) with the simple serenity of the entire place, with the wildbirds' concerts in the morning, with the tender sunsets with a glass of local wine in the gazebo or on the picnic blanket in the garden, with the feeling of time slowly passing by in harmony. Seldom you'll see more (and sometimes even less :) ) than a car per day crawling along our narrow village road.
We are very fond of traditional Romanian recipes, cooked slowly, outside, in iron-cast kettles. Enjoy the local savours and flavours - ask us about cooking for you.

À propos de l’hôte
Hôte : Silviu
Long story short, I'm an independent visual theatre artist (mime & visual theatre & more!) When I don't play or rehearse in Bucharest, I keep a small old house & tiny farm in the woody hills of Argeș county, 150 km away from Bucharest.
I'm passionate about the simple old things. That's why you'll find so many at my places, inherited from my ancestors or even bought from all over the country.
I'm passionate about real, organic, tasty, traditional and healthy food. We grow some of it :)
I'm passionate about reading books. Paper books, not e-books (although I sometimes need to). That's why I filled the entire house with them and hope that I'll read them all at least until I get in my 70s :)
