The Blue Heron-Spacious Waterfront Eastern Shore getaway with kayaks

Welcome to The Blue Heron, named for "Henry", the Heron that visits daily. Spacious areas for large groups to gather and also plenty of areas to spread out and relax. The house sits on just under 3 acres and is set deep back from the road, allowing you to truly enjoy nature. Many windows and sliding doors allow waterfront views. The well appointed kitchen has three separate work areas allowing lots of space to get the meals prepped. A huge crab pot and propane stand are also provided. The main house has four bedrooms and 3 full baths, also has an attached apartment just above the garage with an additional living room, kitchen, two bedrooms and full bath. All areas are included with the rental.


Bedrooms:
Four king bedrooms (1 in the apartment), 1 queen bedroom (in the apartment) and 1 room with 4 twin beds. All bedrooms are equipped with smart TVs. One king bedroom is on the first floor and has a full bath with shower on the same level. Living room has a pull out queen bed and family room offers a large sectional sofa for extra sleeping space.

Group Areas:
Huge living room has a 75" tv for movie or game nights. Dining area seats 16 for large group meals. Large screened patio just off kitchen and dining area for outdoor dining or relaxing. Large fire pit area.

Outdoors:
Kayaks; two tandem, two single and one canoe with paddles and life-vests are provided. Launch from shoreline, as no dock is on the property. Large fire pit and a huge waterfront yard for games. Propane grill, Rafts, beach towels. Two screened porches, one off the back of the main house and one smaller off of the apartment.

The accommodations were perfect. Lot's of room for everyone..it was very clean,kitchen was really stocked nicely with pots ,pans,utensils,coffee pots and all of the appliances were in good working order..the view was nice of the water,swing set and fire pit..weather didn't cooperate but really enjoyed the ping pong table..Definitely would stay again. Thank you

House was wonderful, it had something for all ages, plenty of room for our group of 17. We also had family that lived nearby by over for breakfast one morning and still plenty of room. Lots of utensils for all our cooking needs. House was very clean. Host was very responsive with a couple of questions we had. Everyone enjoyed their stay with many memories made.

Pet dandruff was throughout the house, water smelled of rotten eggs and some red sticky substance was left on the garage floor. The carpet was stained and furniture was worned. The house is roomy and a very nice set-up for multiple families. If family members were not allergic to pet dandrull I would rent again.

Perfect space

Correspondence was quick and available. The space was perfect for our family and friends a bunch of spaces for the kids to do what they wanted to do the outside. Space was big and plenty of things to do.

Beautiful property

My family had a wonderful time in Woolford. The screened-in porch, big living and dining spaces and the 4 bathrooms for 10 people made for a comfortable stay. Henry the Blue Heron was there every morning indeed and we got the canoes and kayaks the last morning of our stay and it was really refreshing. The massive dining room table was perfect for our crab feast. In July with 100 RealFeel it was ideal to have the option to do it inside this year. Would visit again!

Family vacation

The home was spacious and clean. We appreciated the comfortable beds and linens.The kitchen is well stocked and functions well.Simply and nicely decorated.We looked forward to kayaking and enjoyed that, but,it is quite mushy getting down and into the water. We went to all the recommended locations and enjoyed them all. It is a quiet location, free of traffic and crowds. After our stay at the blue heron we finished the day at st Michael’s just 48 minutes from the blue heron…… it’s a lovely quaint town.

Lots of room - sleeping and eating

A beautiful location to enjoy Maryland crabs with a big family. We cracked crabs and enjoyed the view from the large dining room table. Because of the great air conditioning we were able to keep cool in the afternoon inside. In the morning, we enjoyed coffee outside. Communication was excellent up until a few days before we checked in. Then responses were delayed.

Time With Family

We had a wonderful long weekend with family young and old. Our crew ranged in age from 80-10 years old and everyone had a blast. The house was spacious and we played games and spent time on the water in the kayaks and the canoe. We had crabs, jet skied and golfed in nearby Cambridge. This was really a great spot to spend time together!

Perfect for family fun!

This house is huge and has lots of different indoor and outdoor gathering spaces so the kids and adults in our group of three families didn’t have to be on top of each other in one living space the whole time. Big firepit area and huge lawn were great, and we enjoyed the kayaks and canoe. There’s a place to buy fresh crabs, oysters, and shrimp very close by, and the house has everything you need for a crab night. The owner was incredibly responsive and kind.

Enjoyable and relaxing

This house worked well for our group of ten. Everything was clean, and the great tables allowed us to share our meals together in comfort. The rooms over the garage allowed the kids some privacy. The kitchen was well equipped, and everything worked well. Our younger set enjoyed the kayaks and canoes in spite of the chilly weather.

A beautiful gem near Cambridge, MD

Perfect home/location for our group of 15 adults to do the six pillars century bike ride. Clean and comfortable beddings to rest before our ride. Well equipped kitchen with large dinning tables to share meals before and after the ride. We couldn’t enjoy the beautiful outdoors day after our bike ride due to heavy rain…wished we could since the home has a gorgeous back yard and well-equipped with several kayaks and fire pit. Anne was so easy to connect with…everything absolutely EXCEEDED our expectations. Highly recommend for large families or group of friends…plenty of rooms for everyone!

Perfect retreat

We had a lovely stay at The Blue Heron. We had a retreat scheduled with friends that we had to relocate last minute due to snow in western Maryland. We stumbled upon this listing, and the home was perfect for our needs. Plenty of beds, fully stocked kitchen, several rooms and couches for those who wanted to read, others to play games, and others to watch football playoffs on tv. The best part of the house was the dining room table that could seat up to 18 (?). It was nice to be able to not have to separate into different rooms for meals. We are so grateful we stumbled upon this home! I’m sure in the warmer months, it’s lovely to be outside on the water, which is right in the back yard.

Perfect Family Rental

We rented Anne’s home for a Thanksgiving gathering. We were a group of 14 adults and three children and it was incredibly spacious for everyone to feel comfortable and not on top of one another. The connected apartment was also perfect for those with little ones to manage nap time and bed times while the adults still had space to be a bit lively without disturbing them. The house was well stocked with all the essentials, which was of great importance for preparing Thanksgiving dinner and the additional kitchen was also helpful in that regard. The separate workstations in the main kitchen were great as well as it gave the kitchen a nice flow so that no one was in each others way. The family room is incredibly large with a lot of seating options for everyone to gather around for games, conversations or movie watching. We hope to return in the summer where we can utilize the outdoor space a bit more as there are kayaks for use, a grill, a fire pit and a swing set for the little ones. Highly recommend this property as well as Anne as a host because she was quick to respond to any concerns or messages we sent her way during the trip as well as in advance of our trip.

The house itself was a great use of space and was a great layout for a multigenerational vacation. It was really nice to have the apartment space to give some separation. It was also really wonderful to be able to drop kayaks and go fishing just out of the back yard. We also enjoyed all the amenities like the fire pit, the extra kayaks and life vests - even the shampoo, conditioner and soap made for a well stocked house with lighter packing. There were two things that candidly did detract from the experience that absent these two things I think would have had us as repeat guests. If they were addressed we’d probably love to stay again. 1. Cleaning was not great. Not sure if it was a one off and it’s usually cleaner. It just looked like a fast job. I wouldn’t call the house filthy or unkept. But there were like who crackers and crumbs under the couch in the sunroom from prior guests and if you moved things like the trash can you’d find pretty significant dirt and things that missed the trash. With a crawling toddler I did find myself needing to do a better cleaning job from prior guests. 2. The water smelled strongly of sulfur. Kids were really opposed to bathing because it smelled like rotten eggs. We went out and bought lots of water because even if it’s safe, it’s not appetizing. I did contact the owner who said it can happen when the water table is low but it’s safe. She was responsive but it didn’t really address a home that smelled of rotten eggs when using water.
