DESCRIPTION OF SETTING AND SPACE
A bit of magic with trees and wildlife on acre of land invite you to pause in time. Enough privacy and space for indoor and outdoor rejuvenation. Very quiet. In a city; yet minutes from dining, downtown, 20 miles of greenway, hiking, bicycling, parks, world-class trails in Blue Ridge Mountains of Southwest Virginia. Appalachian Trail close by. Roanoke is an outdoor enthusiast dream with many outdoor opportunities within a short drive.

Located on quiet wooded land with quaint outdoor spaces for eating outside, reading, relaxing, listening to birds or observing the flowers and bees. Restorative with airy windows to help you feel like you are almost living outside and bedroom black out blinds for sleeping. Guests report that photos do not do this place justice. There is a resident cat, Callie, who is quite independent and does love to be brushed. She is an indoor-outdoor cat, who does not have access to the bedroom areas and has her own cat door to come and go.

This place is unique and special because of outdoor spaces, comfy beds, light, airy rooms and a connection to this urban sanctuary. The casual, inviting ambience feels like coming home to reconnect and rejuvenate.

The setting is ideal for business professionals, as a base for extended vacations or an outdoor enthusiast in the Blue Ridge Mountains, while shopping for a home, for a student working on thesis, a grandparent visiting adult children and grandchildren, while searching for a new home, to write that book or create the piece of art you have promised yourself or as a place of retreat and renewal. The property and neighborhood is quiet for reflection, studying, preparing for business meetings, private phone calls, etc.

Both guest room and whole house options are for renting 30+ days or more.

Guest Room only Rental: You will have access to all areas in the house except for the master bedroom and bath and a few closets. You will have shared access to the gardens and grounds.

Guest Room with Kitchenette & Private Bath:
Currently available.
$60 night for 30 days. $1800 monthly.
Option for 30+ days only.
Sleeps 1 Guest comfortably. Trundle bed pulls out to sleep 2nd person, if sharing with friend or partner.

The guest room, a private bathroom, kitchenette and closet are solely yours during your stay. You will have shared access to the gardens, grounds, parking spaces. Remaining house and kitchen access is negotiated with host according to your needs.

WHOLE HOUSE OPTION: $2400. monthly for 2 people. 3-6 month rentals available at times upon arrangement with host.

If you rent the whole house as a individual person or as two people, the guest room will not be rented simultaneously unless you bring additional persons or travel companions.

Each person beyond the first two people adds an additional cost of $100 month per person. This makes cost total of $2500 per month to add the 3rd person and $2600 per month for the 4th person..

Whole house bedroom space can sleep two people sharing queen bed in master bedroom and one to two other adults in guest room using twin trundle beds.

There is ample closet and storage space for long-term stays.
There is a master bathroom and a guest room bathroom.
All mattresses are Tempur-Pedic with lots of pillows to match your taste and fit.

The house is my home and is lived in; as with any home, it has quirks and sometimes needs maintenance or experiences a bit of temporary change. Please bear with me if that is the case while you are visiting. Unless I am traveling, I will be in and out around the property, in art studio and sunroom during the daytime and occasionally at night while you are staying here.

There is a library of books, puzzles, games to borrow, if you choose. Wifi is included with Netflix, Prime Video and Apple TV available.

You can use my outdoor spaces and a little path in the woods for outdoor enjoyment of birds and nature! You can pick and arrange a bouquet of flowers for your living area. You can walk to Garst Mill Park where there is a creek, paved path, Pickleball Courts. There is easy access to the Greenway, Blue Ridge Parkway, Appalachian Trail as well as Rt 419, Rt 581 and Interstate 81.

Airport is 8 miles. Major hospitals are from 2 to 6 miles away.
Virginia Tech is a 45-50 minute drive.

There is room for storing a bicycle or kayak.

Parking is in private driveway and on a designated area to the right just after you turn into the driveway.

Host is available and open to specific requests and welcomes helping make your stay work well for your time here. Problems and issues are usually resolvable, and you only need to make your host aware of the needs or issues coming up to find solutions. Please ask for information that may be specific to you.

There is a Cottage Suite and a Tiny Chocolate House on the property. The long-term residents in these accessory units sometimes share outdoor space with the owner and guests staying in the home. These units are situated so that all of us have privacy and can choose to interact or not as desired. Below is a list of areas shared with owner and any guests living in the 2 accessory units or the main house on the acre of land.

Of Note: Public Transportation requires multiple buses and is not easy or simple in the area my home is located in. Amtrak and Roanoke Airport do come to the city and are within a 12-15 minute drive away. Uber and Cabs are available. Bicycling is possible with a bit of planning around trails, streets and highways.
