When relaxation is the only thing on your mind, kick back and warm up in front of the dancing flames in the wood stove, or head for the bubbling warmth of the private hot tub. Hunger is sure to arise and the well-equipped kitchen's updated appliances and nifty gadgets have got you covered. A private washer/dryer is also available in this space, keeping chore time at bay. The cabin is quite dated, but it was clean upon arrival. When we arrived, the heat was turned off and appeared to be provided by a small wall unit rather than central heat. After turning on several space heaters and using plenty of blankets, the cabin became comfortable after about two days. Many of the outlets did not work which was annoying, and there was no coffee pot. VRBO was responsive and did come out to try to address these issues. The hot tub is located away from the cabin and was difficult to access due to snowy and icy steps and decking. Overall, the pricing felt mostly appropriate for the condition—perhaps slightly high—but the cleanliness was appreciated.

Super cozy cabin with heaters in every room and plenty of blankets. Nice friendly neighborhood was greeted kindly by everyone we saw walking. We also had a visit from a bear which was cool.

Neglected beyond belief

I don't know who all these people are that describe this place as " a little rustic". There is rustic and then there is neglected and this cabin is the latter. The place is in desperate need for repairs (not to mention updates). We were lucky that Vacasa had a fantastic property manager who took great care of us but we didn't even stay one night. The list of horrors goes on but to sum up: lukewarm, yellow-ish water hot tub, non draining sink and non working garbage disposal. On top of that a tiny TV that we also weren't able to get to work, dirty grounds, a carpet upstairs that looks like someone ripped, not cut (a trip hazard), cabinets in the kitchen missing fronts, furniture with torn pieces and the messiest closets I've ever seen in a rental property. All and all, I can't believe that this place is actually for lease, it should be illegal. Also, the grounds were really messy when we arrived. Obviously, the cleaners don't even give a damn. I highly recommend that you take your money someplace else as this place is a trap.

This is a great location and it's a cute home in a great neighborhood. Just needs a lot of TLC. Range oven didn't work, not clean, no real hot water and the list of details goes on.

Nightmare

Received message house ready for occupancy. Arrived and 4 ft of snow on stairs and deck. Shocked by bear wire. 2 broken shovels.House 50 degrees never got above 55. Hot tub buried and broken no power in living room.

Falsely Advertised - Read Before Booking

Walking into this rental, we immediately knew something was wrong. It was freezing inside—easily near or below freezing—and we quickly started searching for the thermostat or furnace to warm up the space. That’s when the reality set in: the central heating was either broken or had been removed entirely. Instead, we found space heaters scattered near several outlets, giving us a moment of hope—until none of them turned on.Realizing we had a real problem, I reached out to Vacasa (the management company VRBO subcontracted to), only to be told that the “heating” advertised for the property referred to
 the fireplace. The same fireplace that (1) had no firewood provided, (2) was never listed as the primary heat source, and (3) was expected to keep an entire house warm in the middle of a Tahoe winter.As we explored further, things didn’t improve. The upstairs sink was completely clogged and wouldn’t drain, and the hot tub—the main reason we chose this rental—was broken. We had no choice but to abandon ship and scramble for alternative lodging.After back-and-forth negotiations with both VRBO and Vacasa, we were able to secure a full refund. However, the entire experience was frustrating, inconvenient, and easily avoidable had the listing been transparent about the heating situation and working condition of the amenities.If you’re considering, consider only warm weather stays. This could have easily turned into a nightmare trip, and I hope others can avoid the same frustration.

Charming rustic cabin, with a few issues

Note: This review is specific to a winter trip.This is a charming rustic cabin in a Tahoma neighborhood. Great central west shore location with very easy access to Homewood, Palisades, and Tahoe City. Cozy and romantic for a couple, and ample room for 4 people. Would not recommend more than that in winter, as described below.Emphasizing RUSTIC, because in winter time this cabin has some limitations.First, we were really drawn to the listing's feature of a wood burning fireplace. Which worked great, BUT they do not provide firewood. There was no mention of this in the listing or pre-arrival instructions, so we were caught unprepared and couldnt use the fireplace on the first night. Total bummer, especially considering it was sub-20F(-6C). Second, there is only one wall heater, and no way to control the temp. It does an adequate job of heating the first floor, but not so great on the second floor, where two of the three bedrooms are. The bedroom with the two single beds is in a room with a full wall of windows, so it was VERY cold. ie, would not recommend using this as a bedroom in the winter if it's really cold. To accommodate for this, they provide space heaters in every room, but the electric in the house is really old. We blew a fuse on the first night, which caused the internet to go down.To their credit, property manager sent someone next day. He also couldnt figure out temp control on the wall heater, but electric was sorted.Otherwise, nice place.

Great quiet location

Loved the location as it is close to trails, the lake and Tahoe City. After a full day of activities, relaxing on the deck with no mosquitoes was wonderful. The wifi service exceeded expectations. Cute, cozy cabin perfect for getting away.

Cabin in the woods

Overall this place was great. It is truly a cabin in the woods! We saw a bear in the driveway on the first night and still felt very safe. We had a question for the host after we arrived and they were quick to respond. We'll stay again

Home far away from home experience

I loved every bit of the cabin, pretty much Everything that you needed was provided by vacasa, except food and drinks but that's obvious, really quiet neighborhood and the neighbors are all friendly when you go out for walks. We happened to see a bear in the middle of the night from the second floor patio which was a really cool experience. Definitely will go back again

A Very Nice Getaway

We absolutely loved this house and the location. We enjoyed sitting in the hot tub after a long day of hiking. We felt very comfortable and safe. We appreciated all the amenities this house offered such as the wash and dryer and dish washer. It was hot while we stayed in Tahoe but the cabin stays nice and cool.
