This cabin was absolutely wonderful! It was so clean and spacious and had everything we needed. I would highly recommend this property. I just wish we had more time there. We will definitely be back next year!!

A first-class property with every amenity you could need. It's a real cabin but feels like a 5-star hotel. Hosts were incredible and communications were answered in seconds. The nighttime pickleball match was something our family will remember forever!

Our extended family of 8 adults thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful cabin! There was the potential of having 14 family members, and this cabin would have easily accommodated all of us. It was very clean and has very unique decor. A few notes about the kitchen--from the photos in the listing, it looks like the "old fashioned" stove has a very narrow opening, but it's really a standard size oven door. Also, we didn't find any cookie sheets or rectangle pans, so you'll want to bring your own if you need those. It was a very rainy day, so we didn't have the chance to explore the beautiful grounds.

Quiet cabin in the woods

We had a family of 10 and everything was perfect. Short drive to Shipshewana for a show. The grounds are perfectly gardened. Highly recommend.

Lovely cabin, perfect for family gatherings.

Our family loved staying in this gorgeous cabin while visiting for a wedding nearby. We could tell that a lot of thought and care has been put into creating a space for families to gather and create memories together. We’re already planning our next trip!

Great wedding party lodging

The guys in our son’s wedding party throughly enjoyed their stay at the cabin. The blend of rustic and luxury was perfect for the occasion. I was surprised how many of them came up and specifically thanked us for booking “that amazing cabin” for them. The host was so easy to communicate with and accommodating. Highly recommend!

Mid-Winter Michigander's retreat

what a beautiful site! The cabin is very spacious and accommodated our large party of 12 very easily. The furnishings and craftsmanship were amazing. Best of all, we were all able to gather in basement area and at the huge table for all meals.

Rustic Roots Cabin

We were up for a reunion in Middlebury. Our family just loved the peace and quiet. The host had plenty of everything that was needed but not always provided. From an assortment of K Cups for coffee to little shampoo’s. Also silverware was plentiful along with pots, dishes, and extras! It’s a very nice location and we were Blessed to find it!

Architectural Beauty

This home fascinated all 6 of us. We kept finding more things to appreciate of the workmanship not only of the home but many items within it. The home is exceptionally well stocked if you enjoy being in the kitchen or keeping kids of all ages entertained. The setting is sooooo relaxing. The checkout process was so simple. Communications with the owner were timely and helpful, especially for this first time VRBO customer.

The home is spacious, clean, beautiful! They have thought of every detail. The downstairs game and play area has so much to entertain children. Space for adults in other areas. Our team learned to play pickleball on the basketball/ pickleball court. The setting is peaceful and you are surrounded by nature. Very relaxing. The host was prompt to answer, gracious and sent photos ahead of time for the entrance, parking, etc. We will tell others about this lovely home.

Our family reunion was great!!For the 6 year old there were toys and play area!There was plenty of space for either the group or a few to talk. It easily accommodated the large group. Our favorite was sitting around the table talking, eating and playing games!It was immaculate!!! We cooked and there was great equipment!We loved the long, large porch!!Another favorite was the grounds!!! Awesome oak trees!! Everything is very well cared for!!Not one person had a complaint!!We all want to come back!!

My daughter’s 21 birthday party

I was looking for a nice peaceful place for my daughter’s 21 birthday, a place that we can relax and enjoy, a place that’s nice and clean. When I saw the pictures of this cabin l was like, this is exactly what I’m looking for. I grew up locally in Middlebury on a dairy farm not far from Rustic Roots. I enjoy meeting new people, being a mom and designing and creating art of all kinds.

I co-host this property with my parents, who you may encounter during your stay. It has been a fun adventure for us to begin this hosting journey together.

Voici pourquoi l’hĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement

Rustic Roots is located on a 70 acre property that includes farmland, woodlands and wetlands that are all protected by a conservation easement with the Wood Land Lakes Land Trust. Sitting out on the porch and enjoying the beautiful scenery is one of my favorite places to relax and unwind.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

The cabin is a treasured family home. It's was built by my grandparents for the express purpose of entertaining family and friends. People all over the world have enjoyed its welcoming atmosphere, but it's significance is particularly meaningful to our extended family as it has been our go-to gathering place for over 30 years. We hope that everyone who visits the cabin will feel the invitation to rest, relax and enjoy their time here.

Please note, one of our host couples lives in a separate house on the property. The two houses share a driveway, so it is not uncommon to bump into the "neighbor" during your stay. If you see them around, they will likely wave and say hello. If you want to chat, they will be happy to accommodate. However, they are also happy to give you complete privacy if that is your desire.
