Miners Refuge - Mazama retreat with mountain views
Summary:
Miners Refuge is an outstanding trail-side cabin overlooking the Chechaquo Ranch meadow in Mazama. The home is available for up to 4, with two queen bedrooms. Miners refuge is not suitable for children under the age of 12. The living space has floor to ceiling windows with sliding doors opening onto the patio, dining table, and leather couches arranged around the stove. The cabin is exceptionally well finished and features private outdoor spaces, mature landscaping, incredible views, and immediate access to the nordic ski trails.
The Space:
Miners Refuge is an all-season cabin retreat in Mazama with exceptional views and well appointed interiors. The home is available for up to 4 guests, with two queen bedrooms each with connected bathrooms.
The generous open plan living space has floor to ceiling windows with sliding doors opening onto the patio, and offering views across the meadow to the mountains beyond. This space includes a kitchen with steel countertops and kitchen island, dining table, and lounge space with leather couch arranged around the nordic-style wood stove.
Adjacent to the living space is the nest, which is an extension of the living room. The nest has four built in couches making it a perfect for hang-out space for reading. Book shelves, games, and a small TV can also be found in this space.
The two queen bedrooms are a half level above the living area, accessed by short stairs and a corridor. Two identical bathrooms are located between the bedrooms, each with access from the adjacent bedroom and the corridor.
The entryway has ample space for boots and outdoor gear, along with closets and laundry cupboard. An alcove off the main living room provides a desk space for remote working.
Outside there is a lovely partially covered patio with a large dining table and BBQ grill, as well as a fire pit with four adirondack chairs and a wooden bench. An outdoor shower can be found to the rear of the house.
The cabin has polished concrete floors with radiant in-floor heating and additional heating provided by the wood-stove. There is no air-conditioning, however, generous overhangs help prevent summer overheating, and each bedroom is equipped with a ceiling fan.
Designed by award winning local architects, Johnston Architects, this is a remarkable retreat and rare opportunity to experience a stay in one of Mazamaâs most sought after locations. The house is so well integrated with its site that it is almost hidden by native trees and shrubs and offers both privacy and views.
The Neighborhood:
MAZAMA
The cabin is located in the Chechaquo Ranch community in Mazama, where all the properties are set back to the treeline and hillside surrounding the large meadow. This trail side property enjoys convenient access to the Methow Trails nordic ski trail system. It's a short ski, walk, or bike across to the Mazama Public House, or Mazama Store with its great bakery and grocery, Mazama is also home to the Goatâs Beard outdoor store (with mountain bike and fat bike rentals) and the Mazama Ski School for cross country ski hire and lessons.
NORTH CASCADES NATIONAL PARK
Miners Refuge is also conveniently situated for easy access to the North Cascades and the trailheads to many of the Park's world-class hiking trails. Itâs under 20 minutes drive to the Cutthroat Lake trailhead, 25 minutes to Washington Pass and 30 minutes to Maple Pass trailhead. Great for beating the crowds and snagging a trailhead parking spot at peak seasons.
Getting Around:
Getting Here: May to November, from Seattle and the westside, you can drive over State Route 20 and Washington Pass (check WSDOT for closures). Alternate, and winter routes from Seattle are via I90, Snoqualmie Pass and Blewett Pass, or via highway 2 over Stevens Pass (check WSDOT for driving conditions). Combine these routes and you have the scenic Cascade Loop. The nearest major airports are Spokane International Airport at 180 miles (year round) and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (190 miles in summer / 260 miles in winter). Regional flights are also available at Pangborn Memorial Airport in Wenatchee located 102 miles away.
Getting Around: Nearest winter trail is Coyote Run which passes in front of the property and connects to Goat Wall Loop, and Flagg Mountain Loop. It's a 15 minute walk or 5 minute bike ride to the Mazama Store. Winthrop is 15 miles / 20 minutes drive. Methow Motion provides a private car service throughout the Methow valley, and TRANGO offers a daily bus service between Mazama and Twisp.
Other Things to Note:
Miners Refuge sleeps up to 4 guests. Four guests are included in the nightly rental price.
Pets are not allowed.
For winter stays a local snow plowing service takes care of the Chechaquo ranch road and the driveway. Please be patient after snow storms as they have many properties to clear. You may need to shovel the entryway area.
The Inn Pool - guests of our cabin may use The Inn at Mazama outdoor pool (open from Memorial Day to Labor Day) and tennis/pickleball court located at 15 Country Road in Mazama. The cost to use the pool is $10/guest/day and you should check in at the front desk before heading to the pool. The Inn also has a co-working space and private offices available to rent by the day in case you need space to work during your stay.
PRICING: Please note that the nightly rate varies with seasons and weekdays, please enter your proposed dates for an accurate quote.
