My friends and I stayed at this property as we passed through Hancock while biking the C&O. We lived our stay. The house was clean, spacious, and convenient to the trail. It also had a hose on hand and plenty of safe storage options for our bikes. All communication was clear, informative and timely. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

This is a great, clean and spacious house with lots of space inside for small groups to get together or for everyone to find a quiet corner. The area was quiet at night and the beds were comfortable so we woke up fully rested.

Beautiful House

We had a large group biking the C&O Canal. Three of us stayed in the beautiful house and we used is a gathering place to prepare and have dinner. The house was perfect. Very clean and tastefully decorated. The kitchen was well appointed. Overall it was a great visit.

Very nice house, comfy beds

The house was as described, was clean, and the beds were comfy. We were disappointed to arrive on our bikes and find just one bottle of water, two coffee pods, and no plain coffee cream. There were three people on the rez. If catering to cyclists, water, coffee, and plain cream are always appreciated. Otherwise, a great stay.

Charming stay close to town!

House was clean, spacious and beautifully decorated. We had just a little trouble with the key pad directions getting in but the host was responsive. The beds were clean and comfortable with at least memory foam toppers. The two full baths are both upstairs but are both well appointed, towels/hand towels could have been better stocked. Kitchen was well stocked and clean. Location was great and the neighborhood was quiet, only 10 minutes to the Roman baths and other area attractions. Overall a wonderful stay, we'll be back.

Check-in issues and unresponsive host

Spent over an hour trying to get a hold of the host trying to get into the property in winter. We messaged through the app and called. Left two voicemails and then the host sent our calls to voicemail twice. I then texted the number and she responded and finally called. Unapologetic on the phone. We had spent 40 minutes with VRBO chat trying to see what we can do. In the mean time we went out for dinner, but it definitely made the trip unnecessarily stressful. We wanted to change clothes before dinner (went to a very nice restaurant for a special occasion) and had to go in sweats. They state that they keep the house cold. It was set at 60, so it would have been nice to have been able to heat up the house. It would be nice if they said the location of the thermostat (upstairs, master bedroom). No hand towels or wash cloths. Place itself was fine. Would recommend improving instructions to get in if you are not going to be responsive. There are three entrances and they state there is a code to get in. There is a lockbox with a key, but that is not what they want you to use. There was another key pad that didn’t light up attached to another door. Took multiple tries to get in that one as it wouldn’t light up and would flash random numbers. So clear instructions would be helpful. If they want to keep the thermostat that low (60 in winter) when there aren’t guests, maybe get one you can operate remotely so it’s not freezing. Neighborhood was derelict looking. Would not recommend.

Thanks for reviewing our property. We have made adjustments to the directions for the airbnb based on feedback. Hancock is a nice small town and a great place to stay especially if you are biking the canal or visiting the area.
