Walk to Uptown Shelby! Earl Scruggs Center and Don Gibson Theatre! Lovely!

Birdsong Cottage is located near uptown Shelby, NC and is within walking distance, 15-20 minutes, to the Earl Scruggs Center and the Don Gibson Theatre. Shelby is also the home to the American Legion World Series.
Also uptown: restaurants and shopping. Arts Council, Buffalo Creek Gallery, wine shops and brewery, coffee shops, and walking trails.
The cottage is newly remodeled with roomy living, sleeping, and kitchen spaces. Kitchen is fully equipped with everything but a dishwasher. Dawn liquid and laundry detergent, VINTAGE GE stove/oven!😀(Apartment size) Keurig coffee pods, reg and decaf. Sugar, stevia, half-n-half pods, PAM spray, salt, pepper.
Sleeping is SEMI-PRIVATE between the queen and twin beds. Perfect for a family of four. A port-a-crib with pad and sheet is stored in the closet. Queen bed is behind a wall but has access to the twins through an open doorway. Short queen. All new mattresses. New linens and towels.
Small toilet/shower room but with separate and roomy vanity lavatory/dressing area.
Keyless entry, alarm system, smart TV, internet, enclosed carport.
Spanish and English speaking hosts.

Marywinn was a phenomenal host! She made sure we had everything we needed and made sure before our trip that we were aware of the semi-private room situation, which was more private than we thought! The half wall separating the larger bed from the two single beds extends almost the full length of the bed.

The host was extremely quick in responding to any questions, accommodating and so easy to work with. The space is adequate and cute, extremely neat and clean. The bed was a bit smaller than we expected. The bathroom is a very tight fit. But for a tiny cottage, it's more than sufficient. I was able to activate my cable app so we could watch television as if we were at home. The internet connection is a bit slow but we managed. The cottage was perfectly located to the theater where we were attending a concert and to downtown. There are some questionable areas in and around Shelby. This Cottage is only a block or two from downtown and in a safe area. We enjoyed our stay and it suited our needs just fine. Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our five-night stay at Birdsong Cottage in Shelby. The cottage was beautiful-very clean and organized. Every possible need was anticipated, all in an ideal location! We hope to stay there again.

Fantastic Cottage

Birdsong is an adorable cottage & perfect place for me to stay while in town for several weeks. We were lucky that the flowers on the property were blooming so it was extra pretty! The cottage is close to uptown and 74, and is the perfect size for two people! Marywinn was wonderful and easy to deal with, quick to communicate and I highly recommend her property if you're staying in Shelby!

A little drive to downtown

The property was clean. Plenty of clean towels, high modern led mirror. The main bedroom is in the same room with two twin beds which is a bit different. We enjoyed the downtown area, but would say it’s a 5 minute car ride.

I'll never stay anywhere else

This is, without a doubt, the most comfortable, charming Vrbo (or AirBnb, for that matter), that I've ever rented - love the bird-themed decor! If ever I need a writer's retreat to finish a book, I'm coming here for a few weeks!

Wonderful place

Very nice place to stay, great location, clean and everything worked, nice hot shower, good kitchen.Bedrooms do not offer a lot of privacy, essentially three beds in one room.

The house was very clean, neat, , and the shower was good. The sleeping situation wasnt good because of the open floor plan so it was hard to sleep, the main bed is FIRM so if you enjoy plush mattresses dont sleep here. The train is LOUD at night. The shower pressure was good but the shower is very small. The train was extremely loud both nights. The kitchen was cute with lots of utensils and extras if you want to cook. It was also very nice to have a washer and dryer. The owner was excellent with quick communication!! Very accomodating with late checkout. . The train

Such a cuuuuute cottage!

My Mom and I stayed here for a weekend trip. It was perfect for the two of us! Easy access from the driveway. It is very convenient to downtown Shelby. We absolutely love the interior design and beautiful arrangements. We will definitely book this again next time we visit Shelby.

My Niece’s wedding at The Spinning Lead Vineyard

Weekend Family stay for wedding at Spinning Leaf Vineyards. The property was immaculate, The owners were very friendly and helpful. This location is close to the heart of downtown Shelby, NC. I’d definitely recommend Birdsong to anyone especially those that suffer from severe allergies. No heavy smells which made my stay an absolute pleasure. I also appreciated how well stocked they were on the toiletries, cookware to cook and the Ralph Lauren bedding was extremely comfortable and cozy. There is only a shower stall, no bathtub. The owners made sure we had everything we needed and that we were aware of the the house layout. I give it 5+ Stars

Sweet Cottage, Lovely Weekend!

We traveled to Shelby to watch our son finish his fall baseball season at CCC. The accommodations were perfect for us. Clean, comfortable, and convenient to downtown and the college. Our hosts were very kind and responsive. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back in the spring.

Adorable Cottage in Downtown Shelby

Three of us spent 4 nights in this home while visiting nearby universities. It is exactly as advertised, very creatively decorated, has easy access to major roadways but tucked away enough from the city to be quiet (we were lucky enough to even see the Northern lights one night). The owners were quick to communicate as needed and helped make sure our stay was enjoyable.

We are new VRBO hosts, but not new to hosting! I, Marywinn, am a lifelong resident of Shelby, and Dicky has been here for over 50 years. Birdsong Cottage is a recent renovation of a 1980's workspace that we enjoyed doing together. The property has been in my family for many decades. We travel and appreciate the gift of hospitality.

Voici pourquoi l’hĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement

This isn't a typical neighborhood any longer. In 1920, when my great-grandparents bought this farmhouse, the neighborhood was a vibrant part of Shelby. Now it is the medical section of Shelby. In 1980 we chose to preserve "this old house" and raised our family here. Our 8 grandchildren enjoy coming to the "big yellow house" when they visit.
