Peaceful country getaway close to Cooperstown NY

Horse Haven - Quite Country Getaway - Horse Haven is aptly named, this property is a horse sanctuary for rescued horses. Your host Jan, has a non-profit foundation in which she rescues horses and brings them to this lovely quiet spot in the rolling hills of our beautiful countryside. There are 3 horses onsite currently, the horses are there to enjoy the countryside just as you are!

Horse Haven is a newly built 2nd-floor apartment located over the barn. The contemporary styling and open layout of this apartment make you feel right a home. All on one floor you have everything you need to enjoy your stay. There are 2 large bedrooms with queen beds. The main area enjoys an ideal open layout. The kitchen, living room, and dining room are all in one large open space making it easy to spend time together. There is a super cool cupola in the center of the room letting in lots of beautiful natural light. The bathroom is located in the hallway close to the main entrance. The bathroom is very spacious and spa-like with glass tile to the ceiling in the tub surround. There is a laundry room and pantry area just past the bathroom.

Horse haven is close to the Village of Milford where you can grab a bite to eat or hop on the Rail Explorers rail cars and tour the countryside on the old railroad tracks. Cooperstown Village is about 15 minutes away, visit the Baseball Hall of Fame, Otsego Lake, Glimmerglass Festival, lots of shops and restaurants and more! There is lots to offer in the surrounding areas aside from baseball. If you are coming for a baseball tournaments Horse Haven is only a few minutes to either park location, an ideal getaway from the hustle and bustle of the tournaments.

Please NOTE: The horses are living in the stables below the apartment, they can be heard moving around and occasionally neighing. The host Jan lives on the lower level as well, she will be there if you have any questions. She will be taking care of the horses daily. The horses are very docile but please do not go in the barn without the host, Jan.

Great place to stay

We stayed here for a week while our son played baseball and it was wonderful - super cute and had everything we needed. Loved being able to say hello to the horses as we arrived and left for all the games and activities we had at Dreams Park, which wasn’t too far of a drive. Jan, the host, was great and we would definitely recommend it.

Horse Haven was the perfect getaway. The loft is gorgeous and expertly designed with everything you’ll need at your fingertips. The solitude was just what we needed and Jan is a very pleasant and accommodating hostess. Chance, Ladybug and Sammy added to the ambience. Highly recommend!

Great Stay!

This was perfect for our stay during the Cooperstown Baseball Tournament! The owner, property and location are excellent. It’s so beautiful. My daughter especially loved being able to see the horses. Everything was very clean! Would definitely recommend.

Jan was a great host with such thoughtful amenities! We felt like it was a home away from home. It was clean and furnished will all the amenities needed. The beds were super comfortable and all was very clean. We even got to see the horses. Which by the way we could not hear them in the apartment. Would definitely stay there again.

Wonderful stay

Our stay at horse haven was wonderful. Jan was there to greet us and she couldn't have been more gracious. We met the horses Chance, Sammy and Lady Bug who were very gentile. The apartment over the barn was exactly like the pictures but better. There was plenty of open space and a lot of light. The apartment was spot less and we barely heard the horses. The property was beautiful! If we ever have another reason to stay at Cooperstown we definitely 120% stay here.

Staying here had an immediate calming effect.

I can't say enough about our stay. Jan provides so much to her guests and does a really thorough job of reviewing everything with you and has a helpful folder of tips and suggestions for not only the apartment, but recommended restaurants and places to see. She is responsive and accommodating and just an all around nice person. The space is clean and well decorated. And the horses!! It was so great to be able to visit them in the barn. It is clear they are well cared for living their best life in this little slice of heaven. Close enough to All Star Village or Dreams Park. Highly, highly recommend.

My friends and I stayed at the farm for the MLB Hall of Fame induction weekend. It is about 15mins from the edge of Cooperstown (Dreams Park) and 20mins from downtown (HOF). The scenery driving in the area is absolutely picturesque and beautiful. The accommodations are so nice you will have to pinch yourself (if you have stayed at motels in the area you’ll know). Newly built, perfectly appointed 2BR, 1BA. So much space in the open kitchen and living room. Both rooms with nice queen beds and plenty of room for your stuff. We used it as a place to rest our heads, but leaving it made us feel like we should have stayed and enjoyed the grounds. Oh! And it’s got horses! And scenic fields and the owner Jan is a consummate host. She made sure we had everything we needed and we hardly knew each other were there. Highly recommended! But shhhhh
don’t tell anyone because we already want to go back!

Best Cooperstown Location and Stay

My family has stayed in many a vacation rental over the years, this home is right at the top of the list! Jan has this home stocked to the brim with anything you can need during your stay ; pots/pans/cookware/small incidental items. It feels like a home. Onto the house. The home itself is a great setup for a small family or couple looking to get away. Clean, well spaced out, and beds/bath are great. The home itself is REALLY quite, not a peep from anything. We really felt like we were alone for the week. The land is beautiful, we did not get to enjoy it as much as we wanted due to rain. You can see easily how the stream would be relaxing to sit by for a few hours. The horses were great to visit with, all very friendly. Location wise the house sits right between All Star Village and downtown Cooperstown, a perfect spot! If you are coming up here for baseball, this is your spot!!!!
