Chalet confortable dans les bois de la ville de S W Harbor-

The Knollette - Niché dans les bois sur une voie calme et privée, ce chalet entiÚrement équipé avec cour gazonnée est à quelques pas d'une vue unique sur l'eau et la montagne et une aire de jeux à marée basse, ainsi qu'au centre de Southwest Harbor au coeur de la Quietside de Mount Desert Island. Notre attente est de louer du samedi au samedi, bien que des exceptions aient été faites pour les séjours de 6 nuits et autres.
En ville, il y a des magasins, des restaurants et l'accÚs à Island Explorer, la navette gratuite pour toutes les parties du MDI et du parc national d'Acadia. Le parc offre des possibilités de randonnée, de vélo sur les routes de calÚche, de canoë ou de kayak ou de promenades pittoresques au bord de l'océan. Il est également possible de louer des bateaux pour jouer sur les belles eaux du Grand Port ou pour jouer au golf, chasser des antiquités, manger des fruits de mer et explorer les ßles environnantes.

Perfect location for a quite vacation. The kitchen was well stocked with essentials. Very pleasant walk to town and to a causeway that crosses an inlet.Easy access to Acadia National Park and some close hiking trails.Came end of October and the cabin heated up quickly- so a very cosy place to stay.

Saw 65 deer!! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Knollette. The only thing I would change would be to take down the small tree to give more of a girth at the cottage end of the driveway. It was VERY tight turning the vehicle around.

We had a wonderful stay and enjoyed the location and property very much. We are cooks bringing home fresh produce after our daily hikes. The kitchen was adequately outfitted. However we would have appreciated a dishwasher. We made do. Our host was most accommodating and we would like to return in the future. Thank for your hospitality and attentiveness for our needs.

Wonderful stay at the Knollette!

Our family enjoyed every moment of our stay at the Knollette. The serene setting, proximity to the Causeway and town of Southwest Harbor, as well as Acadia National Park, make it an ideal location. The cottage is immaculate and well equipped with everything you could need. Thoughtful, accommodating, and super responsive host. We hope to return!

Enjoyable stay

The location of this property on the “quiet side” was ideal for our family, as it was not bogged down by crowds. It’s a short, easy drive to Bar Harbor. There are several hikes within minutes of the property. We enjoyed the short walk to the causeway to watch the sunset and seeing early morning deer roaming the property. The owner was great with communication. The property is very well stocked. Overall, a nice stay. Would recommend.

2nd Time

Second time staying at the cottage. Absolute loved it. It’s well maintained and has plenty of amenities. The environmental ambiance is first rate and proximity to Acadia Park is perfect. The hiking trails in the park are just a twenty to twenty five minute drive away at most. I also enjoyed my morning coffee with my friends the deers.

Our family has enjoyed MDI since 1937 when great-grandparents built the Knollen, a large wooden house on the property. Since then, it has been a treasured gathering place for our large, multi-generational family. During the summer, family members often live in the Knollen while renters enjoy the smaller house (the Knollette, built in 1980). During non-summer seasons, we live in Washington DC, Denver, and Copenhagen, though those of us who have flexibility in our schedules increasingly enjoy visits during the fall, winter, and spring, too.

Our cottage is not modern - but it is clean, well-stocked, attractive, quiet, comfortable, and and peaceful.

Over the years, we have enjoyed hosting family, friends, and renters. We feel incredibly lucky to have inherited this property. It feels good to pay the joy forward. Moreover, there's a certain amount of vicarious pleasure in offering guidance to newcomers; we tap into cherished memories and excitement for our next stay.

The Knollette couldn't be in a more perfect location: a 5-minute walk to the natural beauty of Norwood Cove; a 5-minute walk to the quaint town of Southwest Harbor; a 5-minute walk to the Island Explorer free shuttle bus; and a short drive to innumerable gems in Acadia National Park (5-30 minutes away depending on the spot you are visiting). With the Knollen as base camp, it's possible to explore spots near & far without use of a car - a boon for many.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

At the base of South Causeway Lane is Norwood Cove and its little footbridge (the causeway). This cove offers expansive vistas of Somes Sound and sweet spots for daydreaming, reading, sketching, painting, canoeing, kayaking, SUPing, fishing, and picknicking. Around high tide, adventuresome folks jump off the bridge and body surf under the bridge. At low tide we enjoy exploring shells, stones, and shoreline marine life. Meanwhile, our peaceful property is a lovely place for playing on the field, exploring the woods, making fairy houses, and observing deer.
