This house was exactly as it is in the pictures and we were impressed with its cleanliness! The mattresses were all comfortable, too. We enjoyed the open kitchen, dining, and living room areas where we could all be together. The location made this house perfect as it was convenient to Old Town and near the highways to Mt. Vernon, Arlington Cemetery, and into D.C. We enjoyed our stay!

We thought this was a great VRBO. Our organization was in town for an event for over a week and we found it easy to get in and out of DC from this location. The VRBO itself was clean and had most of what we needed available when we arrived.

Alexandria Tropical Oasis stay

Location in Alexandria is ideal for exploring DC area. 7 minute drive to Huntington Metro stop with parking. Some issue at check in from previous guests, but was host on top of providing solutions. Lower floor with 2 double beds provided excellent location for cousin's slumber parties. Quiet neighborhood with driveway for parking.

Upon arrival and throughout the stay, we encountered the following issues :‱ The property was unclean upon arrival‱ A dead roach was present‱ Heavy dust accumulation in ceiling fans and throughout the home, which triggered symptoms for guests with dust allergies and asthma‱ Visible mold in the kitchen sponge and dish detergent dispenser‱ Growing mold on the main-level bathroom ceiling above the light fixture, raising serious health and ventilation concerns‱ Dirty and unfilled soap dispensers‱ A door knob secured with electrical tape, presenting a safety and maintenance concern‱ A broken mirror in the basement bathroom‱ Burn marks on walls and cabinetry‱ TV remotes not functioning for multiple televisions‱ A grungy guest book, indicating lack of routine upkeep‱ Insufficient kitchenware, including no wine glasses‱ Low-quality dishes inconsistent with the listing and nightly rate‱ An unorganized and poorly maintained seasoning cabinet‱ A microwave showing signs of melting, presenting an additional fire and safety risk

Perfect location

This was a family vacation to DC. This was the perfect location as it was 20 minutes or less from everything we wanted to do! The house was perfect for our needs - enough room for everyone to spread out and the children had their own space in the basement which they loved. There were a couple of drawbacks. The couch leg was broken and we had to prop it up with some bricks from the yard. When I contacted the property manager I was told they knew about it and a new couch had been ordered. The new couch did not get there until the day before we left. I had read some previous reviews and they had said there were not many supplies and they were right! Even basic supplies such as salt and pepper were not in the kitchen. If you plan on doing any cooking at all, make sure you bring everything you need! Additional paper towels and toilet paper, too! The manager did leave a bottle wine and some snacks and that was a nice touch. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would stay there again - we would just be more prepared with items we may need (such as a corkscrew!).

great house in a great location - just come prepared

this was a great house in a great location very convenient to the metro, and to local stores and places to eat. City Kitchen was an excellent place for meeting up with friends in the area for dinner and we were able to pick up dinner on the way back from the house each night. the Huntington metro station is an easy drive and we were able to head into DC and Arlington. The beds were comfy and there were lots of pillows and blankets, and the house was very clean. there was also lots of USB equipped outlets to plug in things for charging, which was much appreciated. two of the three bathrooms had bidet attachments on the toilets, which was a welcome surprise. the kitchen cabinets and linen closet were not very well stocked, and there were no kitchen staples except salt and pepper and coffee filters. Luckily we always bring our own dishwasher tablets, paper towels, etc. and there were two grocery stores nearby so we were able to obtain what we needed. The owner was very responsive when we called to ask for more mugs and towels and dropped off more for us. I think they will be making more of an effort to stock the house with supplies going forward. there was plenty of space for everyone to spread out and relax and the arrival basket of goodies was appreciated as well. all in all a very nice rental location. definitely would stay here again if we return to the area! thanks for a great week!
