Sonoita, Arizona is known as Arizona's Wine Country and is home to about 20 wineries. The Sonoita AVA (American Viticultural Area) was established in 1984 and is the oldest in Arizona. The region's rolling hills and cooler temperatures contribute to its AVA designation. The Sonoita basin is surrounded by four mountain ranges: the Huachuca Mountains, the Santa Rita Mountains, the Mustang Mountains, and the Whetstone Mountains.
