Retro Retreat - A Desert Oasis
Your basecamp to adventure! An affordable oasis in a prime location, this cozy yet spacious cabin has everything for the minimalist at heart!
Boasting an abundance of natural light, this is the perfect creative space or romantic getaway. Enjoy sips, sunsets and wildlife sightings on the expansive porch, which features a classic glider swing. Take a 10 min stroll to the historic Oasis of Mara or stargaze as you catch a film at Smithâs Ranch, one of the last Drive-In Theaters in SoCal.
I designed Retro Retreat with a back-to-basics approach. This 420 square foot cabin has everything you need, starting with a great location - it's off of a paved road, 7 minutes to JTNP 29 Entrance and even closer to other attractions such as Downtown 29 and Tortoise Rock Casino.
With its shady palm tree and classic film décor, the space gives a shout-out to neighboring Palm Springs, and has been described by many as cute, clean and cozy.
When you first walk through the front door, you will be greeted by the main living area of your accommodations - complete with sleeping arrangements, a dedicated work area and oversized chair for curling up with your favorite book.
There is an ultra-quiet mini split system that blows cold, and given the small space will start to reach temp quickly.
The home is divided by a hallway almost perfectly down the middle, making the kitchen quite spacious for the total square footage. There is a full-sized stove, coffee bar, and all the kitchen essentials you need to whip up simple, delicious meals. With the dining table in a separate room, there is plenty of space to have a second traveler work from home, play games, or share meals together.
We've restored as much of the original cabin as possible to give off a true 50's feel. My father and I took weekends to restore the original kitchen cabinet - the same type that can be seen in classic movies such as "Breakfast at Tiffany's".
The bathroom features classic subway tiles, ultra-tall showerhead, and an original cast-iron tub, which keeps water warm much longer than the fiberglass ones most popular today. It's the perfect place to relax after a long day of hiking.
If you prefer to spend your leisure time outdoors, enjoy the rocker porch swing, or watch a sunset while sharing a drink on the patio!
Guests enjoy the entire home to themselves.
This property is self check-in, but we are still available to help with any questions or concerns you may have through the platform's messaging!
Quaint desert neighborhood on the quiet side of town. Beautiful view of the stars and the city lights at night. 10 minute walking distance to JTNPs Beautiful Oasis of Mara. 4 minutes to downtown shops, restaurants, and Farmers Market(Saturdays only). 7 min to JTNP 29 Palms entrance!
2 parking spaces just to the right of the unit.
Bus stop a 7 min walk away. Tops Taxi and Desert Sun Cab available.
Car or rental car highly recommended as no buses go to JTNP.
Though the tub/shower is quite large, please note the main part of the bathroom is a bit snug. I wouldn't say it's comfortable for two people to get ready simultaneously in that space. We've provided extra shelving, but an excessive spread of products likely won't fit.
There are two cabinets in the closet that my cleaner uses for their supplies and general storage, but the rest of the closet is all yours to use for clothing and other belongings!
Please note that this is unit 2 of 2 stand-alone units. They have their own independent entrances and are private, but homes in this neighborhood tend to be a little closer together in general. Due to this, we find this area most ideal for small groups and solo travellers who plan on a quiet stay or active days exploring the park and nearby towns.

Please take care of your keys. Lost keys incur a replacement fee.
Please take care of the furnishings to avoid damage and extra charge. Please do not rearrange the furniture.
Please do not leave dishes & take out any excess trash before leaving
Please refrain from eating and drinking in bedroom area
If your stay falls on trash day(Wednesday) we ask that you kindly wheel the trash and recycle cans out to the street for pickup
Property not suitable for guests under 12
City of 29 Palms does not allow for any wood-burning fire pits
Parking permitted in designated off-street areas only, no street or backyard parking
Excessive mess, unauthorized pet, or biohazard clean-up incurs extra cleaning fee
You understand that there are exterior security cameras in use for safety of property and guest
Mailbox access is not given; please do not give address out to anyone that is not a registered guest
In the rare event an emergency repair is needed, you agree to allow supervised access to make the repair
