Very comfortable stay

Stayed for a Navy graduation and the place was super close to base and food places. Very quiet and calm. Loved the colors of the room. Our host was very easy to get ahold of and on top of everything we’re very thankful!

Place that feels like home

It was a good stay for me. the place is perfect for a family of 4!! Specially for a great stay on navy graduation day 13 minutes from the place! Place was clean and had everything needed. One thing if your staying a while just bring extra towels I’m the type to not use the same one twice lol they do provide towel and most like plenty but someone like me I went and got more. If you like to know the downside well there really isn’t any but the floor is was a bit squeaky but it’s wood it’s expected. Some people may look down on that but it’s a great place also property manager was on point when I messaged with any questions response was fast!!! Overall great place

Navy Graduation

My family stayed 3 nights for my Sons Navy graduation. It was a cute house turned into 2 apartments. This was an old house so the floors were creaky, especially in the second bedroom. It would have been nice to have additional seating in the living and maybe outside on the front porch. It was close to the Navy base and not too far from the O’Hare airport. The metro was 5 minutes away so we took the train into downtown Chicago for the day. We would definitely stay again. I did have to reach out to the owner to get the key code to the door. He sent me a screenshot but it was never emailed to me when I received the address and WiFi code. I think this is a problem on the VRBO side.

The property is pretty well described as listed and easily found with GPS. However, having a beautiful wrap around porch with nowhere to sit makes that misleading. The driveway is shared with the house to the left and the neighborhood seems to be in the process of revitalization. The rooms were spacious and the updates/renovations to the property appeared well done. It would be nice to have a seating in the bedrooms and/or a bench to put luggage on. Hangars in the closet? While the unit seemed clean when we walked in, we found that the bathroom sink, the fridge and the kitchen trash can needed a good wipe down. The floors were vacuumed, but needed a good mopping as our feet needed washing after walking around on them barefooted.The grass was a good height but there are shrubs or volunteer trees next to the house that need to be trimmed or eliminated as the overgrowth makes the house unwelcoming. The property is 15-20 minutes to the Navy Recruit Training Center. It is also close to North Beach on Lake Michigan which was very nice.Would we stay here again? Yes, probably for a short trip; but if I was looking for a place to work remotely, nope; there's no desk and the countertop overhang is only a couple of inches. For a few hundred bucks in added seating and a work table, this place would be great for extended trips.

Negative experience

Book in time was set for 3 PM on the day of arrival. I arrived at 3:10 PM with somewhere to be at 4:30 PM but had no communication from the host yet saying how to enter the property. When I arrived at the property, the grass around the entire home appeared to be abandoned, was overgrown with weeds about 3 foot tall, and had mail overflowing from the mailbox. The area heading to the home was sketchy with a lot of closed businesses, and gas stations, and other yards in the neighborhood also not kept up and bars on windows. There did not appear to be any box with a code keypad by any of the doors I could see. The host finally got back to me on the Vrbo app at 5:42 PM but I had already left to get a hotel. I was late to the event I attended that evening and ended up paying for a hotel the next three days on top of what I already paid to stay here. I am seeking a refund and was very disappointed all the way around.

We're puzzled by this guest's negative review. Check-in instructions are provided by VRBO before arrival, and there are smart locks on both the front and back doors. The guest's concerns about neighborhood safety are unsubstantiated, as we have not experienced such issues before. Additionally, we have lawn care services performed bi-weekly and are legally required to adhere to city codes. While we cannot satisfy everyone, we encourage guests to read their check-in email and communicate with us directly. Despite our efforts to call and text, we did not receive a response.
