Idyllic location

The home is on a beautiful, private piece of land right on the St. George River estuary. The views are absolutely stunning and there is a short path right to the water and rocks. It was a perfect spot for two couples to relax and convenient to explore the midcoast region.

Annual Maine Vacation

Property and location was great for us, especially nice when high tide! Very quiet and private location. Perfect with our little dog.Linens and towels were fresh and clean. The house is a pretty nice camp, which is what we love. It just needs a little spring cleaning, and needs screens on more of the windows.

South Thomaston cottage

This is the second time I've stayed here. I just LOVE this place. It's secluded and quiet and right on the water with fabulous sunsets. I love it just the way it is. It takes me back to places I visited as a child. Such good memories then and now. Excellent location to get to Boothbay, Rockland, and Camden without being in the midst of "the throng". This place is an absolute gem! I would get a water system though and Roman shades for the livingroom windows. I also missed the sign in book you used to have to tell about your wonderful stay there. I'll be back again. Just ĺove it!

Liked having the cottage to our selves and home like feeling. The only thing that was not there was a outdoors firepit or fireplace to enjoy more of the outdoors but we loved it and might even try to get back soon

Beautiful property!

We absolutely loved the property! Lots of mowed lawn. Lots of mature trees and shrubs! A beautiful water view! Beautiful sunsets! The house was fine. It was clean, as far the kitchen and bathrooms were concerned. Much of the furniture is very dated, but the beds seemed newer and were comfortable. Some of the contents were stained and rusty. The large living/kitchen area was very dark. But it's a nice room and the kitchen has everything you need. Some of the rugs were stained. This is a house that allows dogs and we did have two dogs with us, so we understand. But this house doesn't have air conditioning and when it was humid out, we could smell the urine in the carpeting. Once again, we have dogs, so we try to be a little more accepting of some things. But it was kind of icky. But we made do because the property was beautiful and the location was good. If they gave the carpeting a good, professional cleaning and they added some overhead lighting in the kitchen/ living room area, it would make a big difference.

When we arrived it was very late, almost 1am. There were no lights on at all so that was a bit inconvenient, but we found our way in after a few minutes with our phone flashlights. I suppose I should’ve let the host know we wouldn’t be in until late so they could leave one on for us. Incase you didn’t read all the amenities like myself- there is no air conditioning or central lights. There are plenty of lamps around to light the way though! This actually added to the cute vintage vibes of the house so we didn’t mind. They have a few stand alone fans to circulate air so this was nice given the no central AC. The house was not “dirty” by any means but there were occupied cobwebs in almost every corner. But like I said, the house was cleaned other than this. The kitchen was fully stocked with any and all equipment you’d need to cook a full meal plus dessert from lobster forks to hand mixers! We really appreciated this kitchen setup as it made making a home cooked meal so convenient which in turn made our stay feel that much cozier. The water access in the backyard was so beautiful and made it even easier to wake up in the mornings. We especially loved low tide so we could go out looking for shells with our 2 year old. The house is in a really good location, it’s about a 10 minute drive to anywhere you’d need but the drive never even felt that long. Overall, we’d stay here again in a heartbeat just read all the amenities and you’ll be good!

Tidal River Retreat That Needs WorkOur 1-week rental in summer was disappointing.We found at our arrival that the bottom of the refrigerator was filled with water, and we had to empty pooled water from the fridge almost daily. Some of our produce was ruined by dirty dripping water. A dehumidifier was full of water when we entered. We ran it from time to time and we emptied it 4 times during the week.The tap water has a rotten-eggs odor, making it unpleasant to wash dishes with or to bathe with, but there was no note about water usage. The owner should invest in a filtration system. We hauled in water jugs.There were no outdoor dining options (A table under a shed was filthy; a heavy picnic table was shoved off into a weedy area at the property’s edge.)Too many windows (including the big sliding door in the living area that faces the water) were missing screens – can’t take advantage of cross breezes.There was no functioning coffee pot.The second bedroom was too musty to use – unfortunate, because it was the only place with good lighting for reading.Limited water access.No dishwasher, and the kitchen area is oddly lacking in overhead lighting of any kind.The location of this place in a quiet area on a tidal river has potential, but the owner and Vacasa agency need to care more about making it more comfortable and fully usable for vacation renters. We didn’t expect luxury, but we also didn’t expect, at this price, for it to be more like a “camp” near the water.
