Labor Day 2025 Stay

The room and facilities were clean, in working order & well kept. Nice modern amenities. Perfect location in downtown. And very close to the Back of the Dragon! :)

Outstanding Lodging Accommodations

My recent stay with the Traveler on Main was outstanding. The room accommodations were excellent with updated shower and all the amenities. The location allows an easy walk to restaurants in town or the Back of the Dragon Brewery and Restaurant right across the street. So, you can park your motorcycle or car and relax. The room was clean and modern and the parking lot well-lit and secure. If you are riding the Back of the Dragon and local twisty roads or if on business in Southwest Virginia, you cannot find better lodging especially for the price.

It was awesome. Clean, neat, quiet, easy to book and access was flawless. They have different size rooms to choose from so you get just what you need.

This is by far the nicest hotel we've ever stayed in. Clean, all the amenities and the quietest A/C in the world. Gif coffee and the shower is amazing. Suite 9 was out room

Cozy stay

I enjoyed the small room. It had everything I needed. The walk in shower is awesome. The only negative is the very bright exit light above the door. Bring your eye mask because you can read the newspaper by it!

We loved it. It was the second time at the tail of the dragon. Great system, very updated, and comfortable bed. The exit light was too bright but don’t know if that’s a Va codes issue. We will be back in the fall.

Studio

Very nice. Studio was well equipped with coffee, towels and a clean bed. I stayed during the week and it was nice and quiet. Had a fridge but no freezer. Aside from a few ants and door that had to be slammed to latch closed, I would rate this stay very good. I would stay again.

Suggested Tweaks

The room was clean and fine. The pulls on the overhead light and fan need to be longer. My wife had to stand on a chair to reach them. Some outdoor seating in the area would be nice (maybe a bench between the studio units). Also, some planters with flowers on the stoops would make a more welcoming appearance.

Super nice!

First let me say how nice the room was. We stayed in the studio. It was clean and had everything you could want. Front desk was friendly and helpful when I called to make the reservation. One of the nicest places I’ve stayed, in regards to cleanliness and thoughtfulness of amenities and updates. I gave a score of 4 for two reasons, both of which can be rectified if you know before you go. So first, these folks must be Chevy people because that bed was “Like a rock”. Now that is because my preference is something a little softer so some folks may love it. Next time I will bring a mattress pad. Second, that EXIT sign lights up the whole room, again, I like a dark room. Bring an extra shirt and wrap that thing up, problem solved. I’m sure I will be back and would love to stay here again.

Very nice place. Just a little noisy in the room we were in with outside doors. Other than that it was clean & very nice. Only other is I didn’t like I couldn’t myself lock the door. It locks itself (inside).
