Grand Haven is located on the shores of Lake Michigan. We are a quaint, little beach town recently named the "Happiest Seaside Town in America," by Coastal Living Magazine. Here, your family will find Grand Haven State Park, which was voted in the Top 10 Best Beaches in the world by Travel+Leisure Magazine. The boardwalk stretches one and a half miles, beginning at Chinook Pier and ending at the iconic red lighthouse. Historic, affordable, and amusing, the trolley is continually traveling throughout the waterfront and downtown areas dropping you off at any desired location. At the end of the day, grab a blanket to sit on and head to the Waterfront Stadium where the whole family can enjoy the Musical Fountain. This synchronized lights, water, and music show has coined the title "World's Largest." This free show plays nightly at dusk throughout the summer. Lucky for you, all of this is just minutes away and waiting for you to revel in.

Home was perfect beautiful location for family fun. Some minor issues with electrical outlets not all working and deck lights. Could have used some blankets as weather turned a little chilly. Overall location made up for any problems! Sunsets were amazing!!!

Wonderful layout with beautiful views of Lake Michigan. We had the use of two kayaks and two paddle boards as well as plenty of sand toys for the kids. Check-in and check out were a breeze. Jaqua sent a helpful text the evening before check-out to remind us of the protocol. The bedrooms were generously sized for our group of eight. All of our communication was prompt and courteous.
View from our deck of a rainbow on our last day!
Great beach for playing and walking in both directions.

The location was great - right on the lake. The a/c did not work properly for the first 3 days and this really detracted from our time. The realtor responded, but it took some time.

Family vacay

The place is very nice with grill, kayaks a paddle board. Would’ve been nice to have beach toys but we brought those. We left some cheap noodles for next guests. Overall it’s quite a nice place perfect for beach vacation for the 12 of us. I do struggle a bit with the premium price. But thankful it was available as another Vrbo property cancelled us with 60 days to find a place.

Thank you so much for sharing your feedback regarding your stay with us at Beachside Getaway. We are so happy to hear that the kayaks, paddle board and grill were a "hit" with you all. Thank you for leaving the noodles behind for others to enjoy. We appreciate that. We are so happy we could accommodate you after the recent cancellation. We hope you will join us again for more vacation memories!

Weekend family getaway

The location of this house right on the beach was absolutely amazing! You are only 1 house away from the public beach so you don’t feel completely isolated but also have your own private beach access and beach front. The kayaks and paddle boards available to use came in handy. We brought our own beach canopy to have shade otherwise it would have been too hot to sit down there. We were extremely happy with the beach! We had an 8 month old and 3 year old with us, including 7 adults. There were plenty of rooms and beds for everyone to sleep comfortably. There was even a crib in the upstairs master. Here are a few of the downsides: - The house is completely full of sand. If you are walking barefoot it’s inevitable especially because the property is right on the beach. Nothing that you can really do but it felt like the floors weren’t cleaned well before we arrived. - The kitchen has old appliances that feel like they’re going to break. The fridge was teetering and almost fell over until we put something underneath it to stabilize the legs. The dishwasher barely cleaned the dishes - speaking of dishes everything was plastic and scratched up. It just felt like we paid a lot of money for this house and we end up eating on plastic dishes that don’t even fully clean. We weren’t happy with that. - There was a huge storm on our last night, tons of rain and wind. Well, the upstairs and downstairs patio doors that lead to the balconies started leaking water pretty heavily into the doorway. Luckily it didn’t get our stuff wet but we had to put towels in the doorway to soak it up. My 8 month old niece was sleeping in a pack n play literally next to the door that was leaking. How horrible if the rain started pouring in! This is an immediate safety issue that has to be addressed! - Another safety issue is that the hot water in the upstairs shower would go from freezing cold to burning hot and took 15 min to adjust to a good temp - NOT safe esp when trying to shower young kids. There were broken lightbulbs on the stairsteps leading down to the beach, rusted and loose nails found scattered on the deck. It honestly felt like the owners didn’t care and just started renting out their property. There were 0 reviews when we booked and still none. I believe we were the first to stay for their 3 night minimum and now they’ve changed it to 7 nights minimum. Bottom line - if it weren’t for the beach and the beautiful Lake MI, this house is not worth $1200/night.

I was concerned about being close to the public beach but it worked out so well. We visited the play ground there everyday with our grand children. Consider bringing the bikes. There are a host of trails for biking and hiking just a bit down the road.Lovely family home. Just as discribed. Thye even have the shower stool! We celebrated my dad's 90th birthday. We grilled all but one night. Kitchen is well apointed. We had smores on the deck fire pit and lots of great beach walks to the pier and north.
