Relax in the gorgeous living space after a day of exploring. Posey is actually just a Post Office serving a rural area in the southern Sierra Nevada Mountains of Tulare County. The closest town is the small town of Glennville 11 miles from rental. Glennville is a small ranch town with 3 cafes, 2 with bars and 2 small grocery stores. No gas or charging stations so do not leave the last full-service town without filling up. if you want to get away from it all. You have 54 acres of ranch, open space and forest around you, instead of being in a subdivision surrounded by other cabins and people. The rental house was our parents' home on our horse ranch. We live on the ranch about a ¼ mile apart from the rental. Our ranch and the surrounding Sequoia National Forest are a relaxed place to get away from crowds and in tune with nature on the trails on the ranch and the surrounding National Forest. Relax and enjoy the great views, watching wildlife and the horses or stargaze from the from the large front porch or the back deck. If you have not seen the night sky away from the city, you will be amazed. All summer & winter mountain sports can be enjoyed. Hiking, horse riding on ranch & surrounding Forest Service Trails. Dirt bikes and E-bikes on designated Forest Service trails only. Then again you may just want to cozy up to the fireplace with a book.
We provide an information book on area sites and activities. There is a small stream, Poso Creek, you can explore on National Forest public land very close to the ranch with a road and trails from the ranch to it. Fish in the Poso creek are small natives that take skill to catch. There are other streams in the area you can fish, the ones that are planted with fish are about 45 minutes away or the Kern River an hour away. There are forest service trails and roads in the area. There are two historic lookouts about 30 minutes away and Giant Seqouia groves such as those along the Trail of 100 Giants about 40 miles or 1 hour away. In the spring and summer white water rafting can be booked in Kernville on the Kern River about 36 miles (1 hour) away along with boating and fishing in lake Isabella.
In winter, if there is enough snow, you can x-country ski, snow mobile, snowshoe. While we do not get snow real often, we do get snow several times between Oct and May. Sometimes about 3 feet. You must be prepared to use 4x4 or chains in winter as snows can happen suddenly. The roads are not plowed at night and only once about midday. When there is over a foot 4X4 and chains are needed if you need to leave before they plow. So, check weather often. The driveway is up hill to leave so if it snows you usually need to park at the top by the county road. The closest downhill ski area is Shirley Meadows, about 30 minutes away, but they do not have enough snow to be open all winter. The closest ski area opened most of the winter is China Pk. about 2 hours away.

We hate to see any pet injured so for their safety you need to know that running lose can cause them to by injured or worse by wild animals that attack dogs and by ranchers. Beautiful quiet area
Loved our stay at this comfortable very clean country home. The views are wonderful. So quiet and close enough to trail of 100 giants and a day trip to sequioa national Park but far enough to not have any noisy neighbors. Start gazing was incredible and owners were very friendly and accommodating. A very relaxing and a wonderful stay during a long 4th of July weekend we look forward to another get away.

Beautiful ranch inside and out. The pictures don't do it justice, Plenty of space for all 6 of us. All amenities worked. The well water was the best tasting that I've had. Had to be from a spring. I highly recommend taking a hike through the property and out into the national forest. Every morning is a joy to sit on the front porch, watch the sunrise and listen to the wildlife. The owner was a real blessing too! He made sure we were well taken care of. And we definitely enjoyed hearing stories of his many adventures. We definitely agree with his advice to plan ahead and bring groceries and a full tank of gas. The best option is to get what you need in Bakersfield before heading up ( an hour away). The drive out of Bakersfield starts slow through the oil fields and then just gets amazing as you h w ad north. Be ready for some fun switchback driving. On our first day we were greeted by 5 friendly horses. It was a daily goal of the kids to find and visit with them each day. It seems they like carrots better than apples. We saw turkeys, black tail deer, a golfer snake, horses, cattle, & birds everywhere. The quail and acorn woodpeckers were the most vocal. Early morning and in the evening the Great Horn Owls would call to each other. There are several hiking trails within 20 miles. All take about an hour to get to and all are worth the trip. The Trail of a Hundred Giants is well worth visiting. The Sequoia's are amazing. All in all, this is a great place to stay.

I was raised here, I worked logging and on ranches as a teen. Then went to work for the US Forest Service in Fire Management, my first career. I retired early and then worked for Kern County Fire & Forestry Dept for a second 20 years
Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement
This is the woods I where I was raised and it is wonderful. I lived in forests all over the state with the USFS and finally promoted back to the Sequoia forest and we built a home on my folk's ranch. We, know own the ranch and we now rent what was the dream home my mom had my dad build after years of living in a really old and rough cabin.
Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique
Everything, it's a log home all by itself on a horse ranch surrounded by the forest, wildlife and beauty. The home is bigger than it looks. It’s very comfortable and it has everything, it’s ready to go. All you need is food and cloths. This is a secluded little-known area of Sequoia National Forest in the Sierra Nevada mountains at 4900 ft elevation. The closest town is a small ranch town of Glennville, 11 miles (20 minutes) away.
