Out of Our Host’s Control

Due to broken pipes we received notice on the night before our travel plans that the booking was canceled. Probably out of host’s control as well as ours. Still, our trip was cancelled all together.

Terrible experience

Our experience at this property was extremely disappointing. Communication with the host was poor. Despite reaching out multiple times for basic details about the property, we either didn’t get a response or received vague replies hours later. This should have been a red flag. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, we went ahead and booked the property. Upon arrival, we immediately felt uneasy about the neighborhood and the safety of parking on the street. The property is located and the end of a driveway behind an unfinished home that was being worked on surrounded by debris. The wifi information wasn't posted anywhere in the room. The host promised to provide it but never did. Once inside, we encountered several issues. The light switch was awkwardly located behind the bed’s headboard, making it difficult to access. The property itself was in poor condition: it was dirty, the refrigerator was filthy and the shower head was leaking. The most disgusting part was the full-size lumpy mattress that had an odor with stains all over, which appeared to be urine and feces. After contacting VRBO and the host, he dismissed it as wine spills. We decided this place was uninhabitable and had no choice but to leave and book a hotel. The host later sent accusatory, hostile remarks which made us feel unsafe. The host was unwilling to cooperate and remained confrontational throughout. There was no way we could return to the property without significant safety concerns.
