Super happy to hear your family had such a great time on spring break! We strive to provide amenities to keep kiddos busy and happy. Sorry we were out of the country during your stay, but we knew our neighbors would take care of you in our absence. We hope you will stay with us again!

We initially had a very positive interaction with this guest. Prior to booking, they reached out with several questions, which we were happy to answer. We provided detailed information about our home’s amenities, suggested family-friendly local activities, and clearly outlined our house rules, including additional fees for pets and boat dockage. The guest shared that their trip was a last-minute celebration of a family member’s recovery from cancer, and due to their situation, we extended a few accommodations—allowing a dog over our weight limit and offering a discount on boat dockage due to their week-long stay. On day two, the guest reported that the home was not cooling to their preferred temperature. We responded promptly by troubleshooting with them directly, and when the issue persisted, we hired an HVAC professional who addressed the issue the same day. We also offered alternative solutions, including relocating them to a different rental or purchasing a portable AC unit. The guest declined both offers and reassured us they were happy and wanted to remain in the home. Despite this, the guest continued to express dissatisfaction over relatively minor concerns and repeatedly requested compensation and an extension of their stay by an additional 1.5 days. We were unable to offer the extension due to our cleaning schedule, but would have otherwise considered it in the interest of goodwill. Upon their departure, we found that house rules were not fully followed, resulting in additional cleaning requirements and associated costs, which were passed on to the guest as outlined in our rental agreement. While we strive to provide a comfortable and welcoming experience for all our guests, we believe this guest may have been seeking concessions beyond what was reasonable, given the circumstances and the efforts we made to address their concerns promptly and professionally. We recommend future hosts fully vet this guest prior to accepting booking.
