Less spot, was fine for us for the two nights. We didnât spend much time at the house since we were in town for a wedding and had a lot of festivities surrounding the event. We ran out of toilet paper the first morning I reached out to the host and didnât get a response for hours. So we had to go out and get our own toilet paper to last us the rest of the day. The stairs are very, very steep to get to the bedrooms, if I had children, I would be more concerned with them. But it was fine for us three adult adults. Thereâs practically nothing in the kitchen, so if youâre looking for a fully stocked kitchen to make food with, youâre not gonna find it. There is an odd smell in the house when all the windows are closed and you first enter, it could be old cigarette smoke smell. But Iâm not sure. The area is also a little sketchy. Again, if I had my children with me, it would be a different story, but it was fine for us adults.
Older home in what seemed like an iffy neighborhood (I have never been to Utica prior to this trip so do not know the areas at all just going by how it appeared to me). I took a chance on this new listing because it checked a lot of boxes. Two bedrooms, kitchen, competitively priced, not far from where we had to go for a sports tournament. A day or two before arrival I still had not received check in instructions so I messaged the host. He was quick to respond and the directions were delivered as promised the next day. These instructions included how to access the house, where to park, the wifi password etc... We had no issues with checking in/gaining entry to the house. However, once inside it was clear the house needed a lot of TLC. The house had an odd smell to it (my step daughter thought it smelled liked cigarette smoke), there was a plant growing in through the window upstairs onto the bed, the bathroom clearly needed to be refreshed, and the paint was peeling in the shower. Overall, we had booked two nights but opted to head home after one.
