Make some memories at this unique and family-friendly log cabin located "in town". This cabin was re-located to it's current location, in 1987, from Wexford, IA. Built in 1842, by John Downs. Downs' stepdaughter Sadie inherited the cabin and lived there until she was 92. We now call it Aunt Sadie's Cabin in her memory. It now has modern conveniences like running water, electricity, and an indoor bathroom, with a jacuzzi tub/shower. Also, enjoy the real wood fireplace during the colder months.
Everything was superior. The bathroom was bigger than I'd expected and the entire cabin has a rustic feel but includes all the amenities. And it is perfectly located to explore McGregor or the natural resources nearby. We would definitely recommend Sadie's cabin.
The cabin was really comfortable- we really enjoyed our stay. The spot on the Main Street is an easy walk to coffee shops, restaurants and shops. We enjoyed the easy access from McGregor to Effigy Mounds National Monument and Pikeâs Peak State Park.
Charming, unique, cozy, clean and close to everything! I loved this cozy cabin so much and wished we would have longer than one night to stay. There are so many thoughtful touches and the decor is so unique and fun. I think my jaw stayed dropped for five minutes as I took it all in. Highly recommend for a couple or a small family with kids older than toddlers ( unless the sleep on futon in living room). The two rooms are in the open loft and are not private or enclosed. That made no difference to us because it was just the two of us, but something to mention. Donât let the lack of central heat scare you. There are space heaters around but we never needed them. The wood burning fireplace kept the cabin warm and cozy. There is not a full kitchenâŠbut there is a small fridge, microwave and coffee maker and the owner even provided a bag of popcorn and some apples in the fruit bowl. We didnât miss the kitchen, but if staying long term, that may be an issueâŠjust the perfect reason to enjoy the great local restaurant. This was just the cutest place and the location could not be betterâŠright on the Main Street so easy walk to all the shops, restaurants and river. Close to Pikes Peak State Park, Yellow River State ForestâŠso much to see and do and beautiful in the Fall. Hope to come back for longer in the future.
