Rural Tranquility

This home is in a positively charming spot. Down the road from an old mill, along a creek. It has lovely grounds and was a wonderful spot for my brothers and I to reconnect while we visited family in the area.

I can’t say enough about the property or the owners. The property is impeccable and completely equipped, we enjoyed the patio and grill and even did some fishing in the stream. Very quiet with an abundance of wildlife but minutes from stores. The whole house is updated with modern baths and kitchen with 2 fridges. Check in was easy, great communication, just really a perfect stay. We will definitely be back, we rented during a Carlisle event and it’s a short 15 minute drive.

Quiet upscale perfection! This gorgeous home was a perfect retreat spot for a small group of friends. There was plenty of comfortable space for us to relax, chat, cook, play games, and reflect as we sat by the fire. Every little detail has been considered to make your stay more comfortable; throw blankets to cuddle with, a full spice rack for cooking, and dry wood to build your outdoor fire. There are plenty of USB ports in each room to charge your electronics, high quality sheets and pillows, as well as personal care products in each bathroom. Just pack some comfy clothes, grab a good book, and order a few groceries... then step away from your life for a bit on this gorgeous piece of land. The host was very communicative and gracious. Highly recommend all around!

We chose this property because of its seclusion, the lovely creek and the abundance of waterfowl and wildlife. Also the close proximity to a small town, is helpful.

If your idea of vacation is simply to relax, we've got you covered. From grilling & dining on the patio while watching the waterfowl on the creek, to resting in the hammock, to walking the long lane onto the private road that spills back into Newville, you can relax, out of the public's eye. A small peninsula on the property allows you a wonderful vantage point to watch the waterfowl on their terms in their habitat! If you're feeling adventurous, you can fish at the popular trout fishing spot, Laughlin Mill itself, or...wheel your car down the winding roads that follow Big Spring Creek to any of the number of fishing spots created for the public. If you need to stretch your legs, a trailhead for Rails To Trails is only 5 min. away on the southwest edge of town. 10 min. north or south on 233 puts you in either Tuscarora State Forest or Michaux State Forest, both of which will provide you an endless network of hiking trails. Roll east into Carlisle (car show mecca) & stroll streets lined w/ casual or fine dining experiences & curiosity shops. After all that, return to the House at Cool Springs to unwind!
