Quick weekend stay - not so great surprises
The location of the rental is great, however the information provided in the listing (which made us choose the location) was not accurate. The listing mentioned a garage, to which we had no access and a dishwasher (which was out of service). Once our reservation was booked and we were within the timeframe to check-in, too late for cancellation without fees and inconvenience of trying to determine new lodging, I received a message advising that the hostâs brother was LIVING in the basement and HE was using the garage. Also, in that same message, I was advised that the dishwasher was broken so we would need to hand wash any dishes used. Firstly, had we known we would be sharing the property with another person - we WOULD NOT have booked here. That needs to be clearly stated in the description. Having someone else in the house caused a very different feel to the relaxing, fun, getaway weekend we had planned ahead of our wedding anniversary. No en suite in rooms. For the amount paid and the required additional insurance fee, I expected more. Photo of the message received from host is attached. The way the booking was handled felt less than integral, which was a big turnoff for me. As lovely as the area is, I would not book this house again. No offer was made to refund any portion of our costs despite the inaccurate listing and live-in guest. Oh, and the sliding door to the deck does not latch/lock. The view from the deck to the walking path is lovely.
