Upon arrival, our SUV got stuck in the driveway entrance due to built up sand that had not been cleared before our arrival. Called the local contact, and she said there’s nothing they can do, so “if you can’t dig yourselves out with a shovel which is in the garage, you’ll have to call a tow truck”. I was appalled at the lack of an offer to assist. She said: ”things like this happen at the beach” (unlike our stays elsewhere), so “flag someone to help” and “You don’t have a 4-wheel drive vehicle?”- as if that was a requirement of staying there! She claimed it has never happened to anyone else before, but we wondered then why did she so quickly advise using the shovel? So, my husband retrieved the key, then proceeded to address THEIR problem -which is resolvable with proper care, although they insensitively blamed natural occurrences. With shimmying and rocking our SUV and him pushing it, in about 20 minutes, we were able to back out of their sand pit entrance and park on the side street. Then, for over an hour in the hot sun, my senior aged husband worked on their driveway. He was sweating and red-faced. I feared he would have a heart attack. He was finally able to pull into the parking spot. However, we were afraid to go anywhere as concerned we would get stuck again. Upon entering the property, a damaged storm door, linoleum, blinds, unclean conditions, stained linens & more. We expressed concerns today and were offered to leave early for an unfair misleading partial refund.
