We thank the guest for their reservation, and for taking time to provide their review. This is the lowcountry of South Carolina. It is hot, it is very humid, and when the hot humid air meets the cold air conditioning coming out of the vents, condensation forms and creates a environment for mold to form around the vent. The house has been booked solid for weeks prior with no complaints ---please see the review from May. When this guest called to complain, we offered to have housekeeping return to the house to clean around the air handler and vents, they refused. We tried to find them somewhere else to move to, but it was July 4th week and basically every rental property on Harbor Island was booked. We offered them their money back if they wished to leave, they refused. Following up on their complaint, I personally cleaned around all of the vents following their departure since they would not allow housekeeping to return during their stay. At no time during the four conversations I had with them during their stay, did the renters say anything about the overall “cleanliness” of the property – it is our policy to have housekeeping return whenever there is a housekeeping issue. This review is the first we heard of this issue. The problem with the review system is very much the same as the problem with all of social media - anyone can say anything at any time. It does not have to be true or even rational, but once its out there, there is not much you can do about it. The properties we manage are not perfect - none are, but we have worked for over fifteen years to earn our guest trust and to provide the best vacation experience we can here on our island. Lastly, while there are many things under our control, the waves are not one of them. Our beach has a shallow slope and as much as an 8 foot tidal swing….making for generally low, gentle waves and when the tide goes out it goes way out. We humbly suggest guests investigate local conditions in advance of booking, regardless of their destination.

I am afraid the internet across the island can be spotty. We are glad you enjoyed the beach and hope to have you visit again.

I am so glad you enjoyed this house and all it has to offer! Unfortunately we can't control the tides or the bugs and both of those things come with visiting the Low Country. Keeping all lights off at night is helpful as they are attracted to the light. (Just a tip for the next visit you make to the area.)

To respond to your review. Angela - at no point during your stay did we ever hear from you regarding any of these issues. If the cleaning crew failed to put a sheet on the bed we would have sent them back right away. We do not unmake beds behind the cleaning crew to make sure all sheets are in place and we would have quickly corrected that. All you had to do was inform us that you needed new towels and we would have brought more out - there is a linen closet with many extra linens in it - did you look in there? " There were no beach towels" - Beach towels are not a provided or listed amenity. You arrived on a Thursday and trash pick up is supposed to be Wednesday, if the trash company failed to pick up I wish you would have let us know. We would have sent them back to collect what they missed and come out to deal with the issue. The reality is animals do sometimes get into the outside trash bins and that is out of our control but we would have cleaned that up for you. "We were only provided 1 bag too" You were informed of what was provided in your check in instructions so that should not have been a surprise. In the future please pick up the phone and call your property manager so they can fix the issues you run into. It is impossible for us to fix things we are not aware of.
