HÎte : Engrid Griffith
Engrid is a lover of world cultures and peoples from all over the world. I grew up and spent most of my life in this same location, spending summer vacations in the streams, catching crayfish and meandering in the many fruit trees in the area around our home. Our family owns three acres of land at this location and we kids were never bored exploring the many mango trees that were planted by past generations of Scotts.
This location is very special to me because of this. I always felt that I had the best childhood growing up in this rural part of the island, climbing trees and jumping in the water pools found in the nearby streams. This experience has taught me to strive hard to achieve what ever I want just as we had to stretch and put our bodies under whatever pressure to grab a mango or to get coconuts or cashews or ackees in the trees. So I grew up as a ' tom boy' and still is a bit tough in my approach to life. I went to school at an all girls school in Bridgetown, later attending Barbados Community College, Erdiston Teachers Training College and finally the University of the West Indies where I pursued French and Spanish, so I can have a conversation in these two languages, though my french is better than my spanish. Currently I am a teacher at a primary school in the north of the island, where the kids are ages 4 to 11. I love to travel and to meet people. I can say that I have an effervescent personality and love to laugh. I believe that we should make the best of every situation and that there is a solution to every problem. I am married and have a seven year old son and we live on the west coast of the island but he loves my childhood hometown, almost as much as I do. My two sisters share this acre of land with me, and we all work together to make guest feel welcome. My oldest sister drives a taxi and can transport guest to and from the airport and my other sister has a car hire business so she rents cars to guest reasonably.

Voici pourquoi lâhĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement
The property is on family owned land which came down through generations of our family some of whom moved to the United States. I spent precious moments among these trees and in this gully so it is so precious to me. The tranquility has always jaded me from my days under the coconuts trees studying for my exams and walking every Saturday in the woods to enjoy the snacks our grandmother who is still alive at the lovely age of 99 bought for us from Bridgetown. As mentioned before we always had lots of fruit trees on the property and they all belonged to each of us and had our names. Because of studying in these woods, seven years ago, I decided to create a space where children could come and learn in a quiet and tranquil environment. After working on it, one day my mom who worked with tourist for 35 years as a beach vendor on Accra beach in Christ Church told me that tourists would love down here. After doing private lessons for 1 year, I decided to pursue what my mother suggested and o. Currently the property has a relatively spacious patio (40 ft x 15ft)on the top level where we have a window to the sea over the lush green of the valley below. The property is surrounded by trees indigenous to the island, with many different colours during the year. I love to sit and observe the different colours in the gully. We share the property with the green monkeys, butterflies, humming birds, dragon flies, doves, sparrows and blackbirds which ameliorates the natural beauty of the place. During Covid we have been exploring local teas for healing and this property offers much in this regard. Many leaves like paw paw (which is excellent for healing the stomach) is found there. Bay leaves, lemon grass, clammy cherry help with a good nights rest. Turmeric is prolific on the property and ginger is planted now. Planted on the property are lemons, limes, guava, bananas plantains and sugar apples which are available to guest depending on the season.
Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique
The highlight of this property for me and all who come is the quiet. You actually won't believe a place can be so quiet. The quiet and the clean air of the area rejuvenates mind and body. You get energized in the place. Many say that it is far from everything but for me that is a grand plus, to be away from much pollution and be embraced by fresh air and quiet surroundings is a supreme gift to us, in these days when life is so rushed and hectic. You just feel to relaxed here. The apartment is tastefully decorated with bright colours to contrast the green on the outside and is very relaxing. I always see this place as my own oasis and get away from the noisy side of the island where I live, and I am sharing it with others. I am very passionate about that, allowing others to share my space that I have created to suit my style and my ideals. I have outfitted the apartment with locally made craft all done by myself and my mother who taught me this craft. It reflects the rustic decor that comes with a wooded area like our village. The bedroom is very cozy with pearl white walls which beg you to sleep and antique furniture that I believe should not be gotten rid of. The bathroom gives a cavelike feel and the tiles remind me of the rocks found in the streams that we played in as children. The living area is comfortable with a large leather sofa that acts as a bed for extra guests. the kitchenette has been outfitted with all to cook meals at home. The outside grill is perfect for any outdoor cooking and reminds me of my childhood days of roasting crayfish after spending hours in the streams catching them and roasting breadfruit which was a village thing. The hammock lower in the garden is an awesome place to relax and listen to the doves and monkeys at troublesome play. Outdoor dining allows you to eat outside while watching the nearby wild life in their habitat. This atypical property offers a truly unique experience in beautiful Barbados
