We couldnât stay here given the condition of the property
Upon arrival at the property, it was clear that its condition was poor and it was not accurately represented in the Vrbo listing. In addition to many examples of poor maintenance and condition, the home has a foul, musty smell. After thoroughly evaluating the property, we all agreed we would not feel comfortable staying there and decided to leave. I contacted Vrbo and opened a case. I also contacted the owner who agreed to refund my money, but has now gone back on her commitment. Our plans for a week in Shelter Island were ruined. I was able to find a hotel where we spent 3 nights and several thousand more dollars, so I really would like Vrboâs assistance in getting my money refunded. This property is not accurately represented on your site as a âresort style â property. Please help me resolve this matter.
This is a large, attractive home in a wonderful neighborhood on Shelter Island. We have stayed at SI before, but not in this area. The street was quiet and treelined, and mostly shady. It is only a short walk to a small beach (no lifeguards) but also a short drive to other life guard attended beaches.
The house has a wonderful pool in a secluded backyard and a huge deck for lounging around or dining outside. There are multiple sites inside for eating or hanging out with family or friends. All of the property was clean and well maintained, and was as described in the listing. The bedrooms and baths were large and comfortable. The kitchen was fully equipped with everything you have in your own home plus more.
The homeowner was super fast at responding to questions before we rented and extremely helpful with all kinds of information.
Looking forward to renting this house again sometime in the future if possible.
Spacious and welcoming house in a lovely area, close to the beaches and near a golf course.
The house is well stocked with everything you will ever need to make your vacation stress free and relaxing.
Tamara, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with, and offered great tips for us and our teenagers on all things Shelter Island.
We were sad to leave, but hope to come back again!
We had a wonderful experience at this rental. Everything was great and owner was very sweet and kind and we would definitely rent again. Thank you for making our time wonderful in SI!!
This house is terrific. It offers everything a family needs and more to enjoy a relaxing getaway. Excellently open and laid out floor plan. The pool is great, and given the nature of Shelter Island, everything is reasonably close given driving distance. This was our first time on Shelter Island, the trip was a last minute decision, could have gone either way, but it was excellent-the owner was extremely cooperative in putting this together at the last minute. The house is in excellent shape, kitchen, grill, pool, and gym were all very much enjoyed. Nothing is skimped regarding maintenance on this home. Speed bag in the gym was very much appreciated by my son and I-we both box. I would recommend this home to families with young children. I wish I could recommend it to other groups, but I simply do not have the backgrounds listed. The owner was extremely helpful and informative regarding any questions and orientation to the area, there were no issues that arose in our stay. This was a great vacation and exactly the low key, move at your own pace atmosphere that the family needed. We would stay again.

There are many exciting little spots to enjoy on Shelter Island. From the quiet, serene beaches of Ram Island (without another sole on them- in the height of the season), to bustling Bridge street, that boasts quaint shops, and Reddings Market (an open-air french style market), to the Limelight of Sunset Beach. I love Shelter Island because it has all of the above and more.
When my husband and I got married on shelter Island we fell in love with the Island. When we purchased this home we knew it was ideal for a family. We've made this house a family retreat. There are many weekends that we do not leave the house.
The 2,800 square foot home opens up into the outdoors to a 3,000 square foot deck and outdoor kitchen. The swimming pool is separate and surrounded by grass. The interior with its glass sliding doors lead to the outdoor deck and and along with is sleek glass handrails make for a treehouse like effect.
