Welcome to Lekker by the Sea!
âLekkerâ means easy, enjoyable, and just right â and thatâs exactly the feeling we want you to have the moment you arrive.
This traditional Oak Island beach bungalow is designed for families and groups who want to truly relax. The open kitchen and dining area make it easy to cook and gather together, while the spacious living room is perfect for winding down after a day at the beach.
Step outside to enjoy both front and back decks, including a screened-in porch that offers shade and relief from bugs â ideal for morning coffee or evening conversations.
Whether youâre here for beach days, bike rides, or simply time together, Lekker by the Sea is a comfortable, welcoming home base for your coastal getaway.
Something *very* important to note: the house is currently under renovation, which is why the photos are limited. We began in October 2025 and will be fully renovating both bathrooms, replacing floors, all new interior paint on walls and ceilings, new doors, new outdoor shower, new furnishings and, most importantly, a brand new heated 12' x 26' pool to be finished in March 2026. The property is priced accordingly, knowing it might feel a little risky to book something that will look dramatically different by the time you arrive.

We are an American-South African family, living in nearby Wilmington, and excited to share this amazing beach with you! We have been vacationing in Oak Island for over 10 years, and fell in love with it's low-key lifestyle, beautiful beaches, and great restaurants.

Lekker by the Sea is the ideal beach getaway for families and friends. Providing enough space for two families to stay together, each with their own spaces and bathrooms, and room to eat outside or in! The pool (coming in March 2026) will be the perfect way to cool down after a fun day at the beach. The property is central to the island, only a few minutes from multiple grocery stores, great restaurants, a splash pad and the local recreation center. And if you get tired of the beach and the pool, you're a 10 minute drive from kayak rentals and a quiet paddle down the inland waterway. We can't wait for you to make new memories at Lekker by the Sea!
