We have rented large reunion places before. This one looks better online than it was in person. Functionally everything worked, but the decor and furniture were highly dated, hence four stars instead of five. The cleanliness was OK except in the basement, which was very dusty. We had great conversations with the owner. He was very cooperative and easy to deal with. The one disappointment was the hot tub was not working. The pool however, was terrific.

We were disappointed to see this review. We strive for a highly satisfying experience for all of our guests. Regarding the dust in the basement, we recently added insulation and excapsulated the crawl space adjacent to the basement to enhance guest comfort. We regret that the dust specified must have been a result an incomplete cleanup from that project. We will have our cleaning team address the issue right away. Regarding the hot tub, we specify in the listing that the hot tub (outdoors) is not open during the winter. I can only assume that the guest must have missed that when reviewing the listing. This is the first time a guest has indicated to us that listing looked better than the property itself. Most of our guests have indicated the opposite giving us high praise for the condition of the property. I will be contacting this guest for specifics regarding the furniture and decor comments and strive to address any other issues.

This was a beautiful home was enjoyed by all. The amenities are great, Walmart is right around the corner, the pool was warm and Ted was very welcoming. We were disappointed to learn that the hot tub had been closed early due to cold weather, but that don’t stop us from having a great time! We would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in renting their own “hotel” for a family/friend getaway!

It was necessary to close the hot tub which is outdoors. This winter season started early this year. 17" of snow so far and temperatures have dipped down to -3. Impossible to enjoy the hot tub under these conditions. But inside, the pool room is 80 degrees and the pool 84 degrees when guests opt for the additional winter pool heating fee. We may consider moving the hot tub indoors next year.

We had a wonderful, memorable stay. Communication about expectations for guests was easy. I appreciated the couple hours earlier than normal check in time since our son was arriving from his college about an hour away. There is plenty of space for a big group and despite the colder than average Thanksgiving weather, part of our group was playing Ultimate Frisbee in the back yard and having that open space to play was great. The indoor pool was nice and warm. What a joy for our large family to all be under one roof for Thanksgiving. Thank you, Ted and Debbie.

50th Anniversary Gathering

We wanted a location to gather our whole family of 40 to celebrate our 50th anniversary and this fit the bill exactly. Far enough away from home to feel removed but close enough for reasonable travel. The owner was VERY responsive to an issue that popped up and took care of it immediately.

The comfort of our guests is of paramount importance to us. The issue referenced was caused by a new continuous water heater installation error. We corrected the issue within an hour. We pride ourselves on being responsive to the needs of our guests and encourage guests to let us know right away if there is anything we can do to help make their stay more enjoyable.

This is the perfect spot for a family reunion. The hosts are amazing, great communication and if we had any questions or issues they answered immediately. The house is huge, with plenty of room for everyone, we loved the pool and hot tub. Also able to use the volleyball courts and fire pit. Plenty of outdoor comfortable sitting areas. Very roomy and family friendly home

Our immediate family of 12 adults and 9 kids stayed at this home. It had enough bedrooms and bathrooms to make our experience very relaxing. The pool was a big hit for everyone. It rained at times but having the pool inside didn’t hinder our fun. Lots of outside space for baseball and kickball and volleyball nets. It was a wonderful experience. Would definitely recommend this place.

Very nice, large, and clean. Plenty of space for everyone! Only downfall house is very musty especially the basement and chlorine smell from the pool. Cost was a bit high for 10 adults and 2 children for 2 nights was almost 5000 but in then end it was worth it. Hosts are very lovely and great communication. They where on sight in there RV. However after check in someone had come into the house when we had left for dinner and opened windows and left a back door open. The was slightly uncomfortable.

We had an unusual event in the basement the morning of this guests scheduled arrival that caused the odor referenced. We corrected the situation and placed an air purifier in the basement prior to their arrival earlier in the day. Our expectation was that the odor would be eradicated prior to our guests arrival. Under the belief that the guests had not yet arrived at the property (there were no cars in the parking area) we returned to the house to see if the odor had been fully corrected. The odor had diminished but was not completely gone, so we added a second air purifier and opened the windows and the back door. It is likely that the chlorine smell referenced was as a result of the air purifier which was on a timer. We regret that our guests had to endure the odor upon their arrival and that they felt uncomfortable with the open windows and back screen door. Our standard practice is to NEVER enter the property without prior permission from our guests. The odor was not present when we arrived to prepare the property for our next guests. We operated this property as a Bed and Breakfast for many years prior to making it a VRBO property and have a strong commitment to guest satisfaction. With a property as complex as ours, we have found that staying in our RV at the back of our 6 acres, helps us facilitate the personal service that our guests deserve and expect. In this way, we are close by and able to address in minutes any issues that may arise.

Our ladies retreat enjoyed our time at the home. The pool was very clean. However the hot tub smelled strongly of chlorine and was a bit of a concern for us. This home is perfect for a large group but the location itself was not as ideal. There is not a lot of options for things to do in the area. Overall we would rate the home at a 4.5 but the location at a 2.0.

This was a great place to celebrate family! The kitchen lacked for nothing! We were grateful for this time with family in this space. We only wish it hadn’t been so bitter cold as we all wanted to play outside!

Perfect Family Vacation Spot

The whole family enjoyed our stay in the Winchester house. The perfect spot for a family vacation, we spent most of our days on the volleyball/badminton court and in the pool. Enjoyed by all ages! Loved the large dining areas to allow everyone to eat together. Overall One of our favorite vacations and we will definitely be back!

Ted is a graduate of Ball State University with a B.S. is Telecommunications and a Business Administration Minor. In addition to directing activities at the Inn, Ted and daughter Kiera - an Indiana University graduate founded Uncharted Pixels LLC - a web services, branding, and video production services company.. Ted is also a private pilot.

Debbie manages the housekeeping functions making sure the cleaning team work is done properly amd the home is up to her exacting standards of cleanliness and comfort. She was awarded the Hoosier Hospitality award by Indiana's Lieutenant Governor!

Debbie attended Indiana University East in Richmond and has worked in the healthcare, childcare, and social services fields during her career.

After living near Chicago, St. Louis, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Cincinnati, We purchased this property to get back to our Hoosier roots near the Whitewater River valley. Both Ted and Debbie were born in Richmond just 25 minutes south of the property. Winchester is a great little town brimming with family values, lots of churches, nearby shopping, and close to our family.
