A private retreat with close proximity to Nantucket town, this home’s location in exclusive Monomoy offers both privacy and convenience. Centrally located - essential shopping, Airport, and Main Street are all less than a mile away. On bicycle, access to the dedicated bike paths can be found at the foot of Monomoy Road. And Monomoy Beach, one of the best beaches on the island with its secluded calm waters and spectacular harbor views is a short distance from the house – a perfect place to launch a boat, paddle a kayak or spend the day beachcombing.
The upside down house features a bright, large main living and dining area with an outdoor deck looking out to the Monomoy Creeks, town and distant harbor. A fully equipped kitchen provides ample space to cook and entertain. Also on this level is the master bedroom, and a large second bedroom with two queen beds and sitting area. Below on the first level, an additional living room, three bright bedrooms and an office spill out to lawns and colorful, groomed gardens. A third floor loft provides a TV/play area. Centralized A/C ensures cool comfort during the summer and amenities include high-speed Wi-Fi and cable. The house also offers a large two-car garage with plenty of space for bikes, full laundry facilities and two working fireplaces.

Monomoy and Shimmo are located next to each other on Nantucket Harbor across from the downtown waterfront. These areas are known for their grand homes, many with views of the Harbor. Accessible from Milestone and Polpis Roads, this strictly residential area is quiet and relaxing, yet only a short drive to Town and Mid-Island conveniences.

Beach

Monomoy Beach is popular for walking, picnicking, and launching kayaks or paddle boards. A walk to the left leads to a salt marsh and creeks, which is a great place for spotting birds and aquatic wildlife. The most common birds seen in this area are ducks, geese, cormorants, oyster catchers, blue herons, egrets, and of course gulls. A paddle through the winding creeks will also reveal small fish and lots of crabs. Make sure to pay attention to the ebbing tide as you could strand your craft! A walk to the right will take you past two piers and up to Pimney’s Point, where another salt marsh ever changes with the tide. In the winter, these waters are popular with scallopers and clam diggers.
